    Whoops, brain fart. Meant finalist.

Still, pretty good college career for him.

never won an NC either. maybe as a back up

Jamarcus Russell won a Heisman and a national championship. That's about as successful as you can get as a college QB.

    In what universe?

Is any award based on who will be the best going forward? (unless it's most likely to succeed)

You win awards for what you have done...and Max Browne, right now, is the Number 1 Quarterback in this great land of ours...everything else is speculation...

No so the awards mean nothing. Pretty much what you are saying is if you were an NFL team you'd pick the Heismam winner over the prospect thought to be the best future pro

Yes, awards mean something...that's why Heisman winners are usually picked in the 1st round unless your Jason White (poor kid)

and... Max Browne, right now, is the Number 1 Quarterback in this great land of ours (this is not just my opinion)...everything else is speculation...

I'm not the only one saying Hack is #1, the guys who scout and evaluate players for a living are saying that. That means more than winning some award that partly is probably based on stats which mean nothing when evaluating a prospect.

Heisman winners are picked in the 1st round most of the time because they are real good players, but not always the best NFL prospect. The best QB is Hack because he is the best NFL prospect. I don't think you understand how the players are evaluated and what matters.

  • What stars were Aldon Smith, JJ Swat, Demarcus Ware, Jared Allen coming out of High school? It is impossible to know how good a player will be in the next level..

chris weinke, troy smith, eric crouch and most heisman trophy winners blow in the NFL..

Actually you're wrong...the only guys that have him higher than Max Browne is this site and ESPiN...other sites have Max higher...and Max has been recognized by several organizations as the better QB...

"I don't think you understand how the players are evaluated and what matters."

I was raised on a football field...I'm aware of how players are evaluated and what matters....

Let's just agree to disagree...we will know soon enough

  • Does it really matter? Hack is going to be coached by BOB while Max will get the Kiff. That's what we should really be looking at.

What history does BOB have with QBs?
Please don't tell me Tom Brady.

Look what he (and Charlie Fisher) did with Matt McGloin with less than a year to learn a complex Patriots-based offense. There need not be any more examples.

    BOB did great with him.

Every QB Kiffin has coached got drafted. I know people hate him but he puts guys in the NFL.

Coached with B2 and Tom brady was his qb all he did was turn Mcgloin into a great qb. c'mon man...

Every kid that the Kiff coached was a 4 star or higher. McGloin was a former walk-on who had the second worst QB rating in the Big Ten last year.... only being ahead of our other starter Rob Bolden. Please... it's not comparable.

McGloin went to HS right next to mine kid wasn't even that good never expected him to start at PSU..

He had 4/5 star Eric Shrive playing on his OL, so it's not like college coaches didn't know about the kid. If he showed D1 talent, someone would have picked him up.

Gotta give McGloin credit though, he worked his ass off and proved a ton of people wrong.

Jonathan Crompton is a good example turned him into 5th round draft pick.

True but the fact you go to work with B2 everyday can only help you as a coach, Charlie Weiss was unsuccessful at ND but it wasn't b/c of his offense coached Jimmy Clausen and Brady Quinn, Mcgloin was a former walk-on and BOB tunred him into one of the best QB's in the Big 10..

Kiffin did that Jonathan Crompton even though he wasn't a walk on. Crompton was a bad, he started his Jr year played bad was one the reasons his Coach got fired.

Jonathan Crompton was a four star coming out of high school. He had the size and the arm to be good. He had a great offer list and was considered the #2 pro style QB coming out of HS.

McGloin, on the other hand McGloin is a shade over 6 foot, has a sub par arm and had zero offers coming out of HS. He went from throwing for 1500 yards with a 8-5 TD/Int ratio to 3200 yards with 24 TDs and 5 picks. His numbers were better than Crompton in his senior year, and that was with one less game.

Again, Kiff never took on a project like McGloin.

McGloin was more of a project and BOB did great with him but all I'm saying is Crompton was bad for 3 years without Kiffin and in 1 year Kiffin turned him into one of best QBs in the SEC and 5th round pick.
