  • Not that I care about this story because I think it is stupid to make a big deal about it but after reading what Saban actually said, I think people completely missed his point. Maybe I just wasn't reading it right but I took it as him saying it was unfortunate that any of the 3(Bama,UGA, or UF) would be left out of a BCS game. Am I the only one that reads it that way?

  • No what he said was it would be unfortunate for the two teams who won their divisions and played for the conference championship might lose out on a BCS bid if they lose. He's saying a team like Florida who didn't win their division shouldn't get it over a team that did. Pretty much a bitch move by Saban. I don't care either way because nothing he says will change the fact we'll be in NO.

    I haven't read the whole thing but that really doesn't make much sense. I don't believe that Saban would say something so obviously hypocritical just a year later. He would know that would open him up for obvious unneeded criticism. He also knows that UF would go to a BCS championship game automatically being in the top four, and at worst, they will stay there after this weekend.

    Is this his quote? This is what I have seen posted so I'm not sure if this is the whole thing

    “It’s not really a great scenario for either team,” he said on a teleconference Sunday. “You play your way into the championship game, which means you’re the best team in your division. It doesn’t seem quite right. I don’t feel good about it for our football team or their football team.”

    It looks to me like he is saying, we can only get 2 teams in and with UF being in, the loser of the SECCG is left our despite having a great season. I find it hard to believe someone would not agree that this is a bad scenario for all teams. If UF were in the SECCG with an 11-1 record and you were going to be left out with a loss and the team taking your place was beaten by UF, you would probably see things differently. Either way, I think UF guys have a little too much sand in their bag over this. He didn't take a shot at your team in any way.

    He's talking about two teams, not 3. Which in case I'd assume he's talking about Georgia and Alabama and referring to UF as the team that's making it not right. "It's not really a great scenario for either team" is not referring to all 3 teams. The question, from what I'm told was, what was his opinion on the SEC champion game loser getting left out of the BCS all together and this was his response to it. So yes, it's pretty hypocritical on his part.

    Dude... It's Nicky fuggin Satan we are talking about. You are selling him way shorter than his own height if you think this guy wouldn't try to campaign for the spot if his team loses. Any smart coach would.

    You're right. We are all guessing. But the media members in the room all took it as a jab at UF and that's how it got to where it is. The reason it makes so much sense to me is because it would be perfectly acceptable to say because both teams are landlocked in a win/loss senario but are still the winners of their divisions while the other team is at home, but it's not acceptable because it happened to his team the year before. Either way it really doesn't matter and should have never been blown up imho.
