Wow, Beetlejuice is still alive? I haven't heard Stern's show in over 5 years... but for some reason it's shocking to hear Beetlejuice is still kicking.

I like them a lot. I was listening to the 59 Sound. They used an old school microphone when they recorded so it has an old sound.

The Gator has good taste, Gaslight Anthem are awesome. Think punk combined with classic Springstein and the sensibility of 50's greasers. There music tends to borrow heavy from their influences and their lyrics are very laden with the references. Check out some of Brian Fallon's acoustic videos on youtube.

    Elliott Smith 2:45 AM

I made this with photographs that go well with the song. This is from the album Either/Or - 1997. Elliott used to walk the Brooklyn subway tracks so that's what the first pictures are about. The picture of the city at night is Portland, Oregon where Elliott lived for a while. LYRICS i'm going out sleepwalking where mute memories start talking the boss that couldn't help but hurt you and the pretty thing he made desert you i'm going out now like a baby a naïve unsatisfiable baby grabbing onto whatever's around for the soaring high or the crushing down with hidden cracks that don't show but that constantly just grow i'm looking for the man that attacked me while everybody was laughing at me you beat it in me that part of you but i'm gonna split us back in two tired of living in a cloud if you're gonna say shit now you'll do it out loud it's 2:45 in the morning and i'm putting myself on warning for waking up in an unknown place with a recollection you've half erased looking for somebody's arms to wave away past harms i'm walking out on center circle the both of you can just fade to black i'm walking out on center circle been pushed away and i'll never go back

  • Ichabod -- I have no knowledge of country music... so this will probably sound stupid.

What is the difference between 'country' and 'texas country'? Or is that like saying what is the difference between rock and indie or rap and hip hop, etc...

    Is there a major difference?

The true country is more Texas country. Nowadays country music is the poppier country of Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, and newer Tim McGraw. I hate this country. It is what is killing country music.

Eric Church, Hayes Carll, Jamey Johnson all pretty good artists that is closer to real country

Amen to that brother. "New" country is crap. Eric Church and Jamey Johnson are about the only country singers I can listen too. Real country is Merle, Waylon, Conway, Bocephus, Strait, etc.

I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it. Clint Eastwood

mental -- thats a great one. I love old NIN. I don't like his new stuff so much but he was hard to beat back in the day.

Hate Machine thru The Fragile were straight classics, IMO. Spiral is a transcendent record - no matter what kind of stuff you're into you can't deny that thing's impact to music.

  • I've always liked their stuff that comes on the radio but I've really gotten into them A LOT lately. Been listening while reading their lyrics and figuring out what they really mean. When you hear their songs the first time you're like WTF is this and what does it mean? Then you listen a couple more times and it starts to make sense. They are such a talented group at both an instrumental and lyrical level, especially considering there are so many no-talent hacks out there. I'd love to listen to them while I work but I think some of patients my be a little freaked out by them. I hope they tour sometime soon. I'd love to see them live.
