I know you've post that you have a vinyl collection, whats your opinion on the vs. debate? I've been thinking of getting a turntable and starting to buy vinyl LPs. I really never buy CDs anymore.

That is all I have been buying. Most vinyl come with a digital download code too so it is win win.

  • BTW Lucero's new album is really good. Very different from their other stuff. Kind of bluesy. Has a Jerry Lee Louis feel to it at times with the piano parts.

Ahhh... i don't know i guess it depends more in the sound system you have? All I know is that it seems more fun if you are sitting around just flat out listening to music with friends and drinking, etc.... it seems more fun to play vinyls. So I would say in that sense vinyl is better.

Vinyl might be better as long as you don't get one that has errors on it, which happens.... CD's that never happens if you buy them new.

Technically speaking there is a difference. Vinyl is analog which is what "original" sound is. CDs are digital which is converted to analog and the amplifier raises the voltage for your speakers..

So the sound should be better. However it that is the technical aspect and in reality it may or may not sound better to the listener. Some albums I have I do think sound better.

I am like Aussie. Buy the vinyl get the download bundled with it.

Agree with this.... the only exception is I never buy 'loud' or 'heavy' albums on vinyl. The heaviest vinyl I have is Mr. Beast by Mogwai and that sounds good... but not sure how really heavy stuff would sound. Probably still good

I don't have any metal on vinyl, but heavy classic rock (Zepp, Jimi, even The Beatles Helter Skelter, etc) sound real good.

My understanding is vinyl is pressed at the original 24-bit analog which the studio recording is recorded at while CDs use a 16-bit digital. Sound waves by nature are analog, so from a technical standpoint, vinyl is the closest you can get to accurate studio reproduction.

Funny you mention heavy because two of the albums near the top of my list are Leviathan and Blood Mountain by Mastodon. Both are heavy albums but Leviathan is especially heavy.

xxx ALL AGES xxx The Boston Hardcore Film ...

"The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth" "xxx ALL AGES xxx" The Boston Hardcore Film is a documentary film that explores the early Boston Hardcore music scene from the years 1981 thru 1984. Unlike earlier films that were centered on the members of the bands, this film delves into the social and communal aspects of that particular era. The community, culture, straight edge and DIY (Do it yourself) ethic of the time are all explored in the film. Never before seen archival footage, photographs, interviews and dramatizations make up the body of the film. The origins of the "xxx All Ages xxx" film project go as far back as September 1981. At the time Duane Lucia (Executive Producer) was the owner and operator of the Gallery East performance / art space located in Boston. The Gallery East provided an early "All Ages" venue making it instrumental in giving birth to the upcoming local "Hardcore" scene. Katie "The Kleening Lady" Goldman (Producer) was a communication major and radio personality at Emerson College as well as a driving force in the burgeoning local hardcore scene. She was involved with the promotion of all ages hardcore shows at the gallery including The Mighty CO's which was fronted by fellow Emerson student Drew Stone (Director). In 2009 the three formed an alliance with the intention of making a documentary film focusing on the early Boston Hardcore scene. It was agreed upon that under the Gallery East name Duane Lucia would finance the project and assume the role of Executive Producer, Katie Goldman would be the film's Producer and Drew Stone the Director / Editor along with Alan Dubin.
