  • Great list IYAM. I have UTenn beating Florida so both would go 8-4. And I'd switch USCe and UGA. UGA is the better total team. JMO

I think Lattimore and Shaw together for a full season, healthy and without the Garcia distractions will get it done. Have UGA actually losing at Mizzou in week 2 with suspensions and some other problems weighing them down.

With all the issues they had, people don't give USCe enough credit for what they did last year, IMO.

    BetterOff

  • UGA will have an absolutely amazing defense and they have 3 really good RBs, 2 good TEs, 2 solid WRs, a star WR and a 3rd year starting QB who is overhyped in Athens but underappreciated most everywhere else.

    JMO

UGA will be the only team in America that may be better against the run on D than FSU.

    Don't see it.

Gave up 200 yards rushing last year in 4 games.

Still think they are behind Bama and LSU against the run by a decent margin.

16 rushing TDs against a great run stopping defense doesn't happen.

To equate that, Bama has given up 19 the last 4 years.

News flash... reading stats <> watching a game. Depth was a big issue last year as we rotated 4 DL, 5 LBs, and 5 DBS. We would get yardage piled up against us in the end of games when LSU and Bama would be rolling through their depth. Fatigue played a big factor. We have depth this year. A perfect example of this is the SEC championship game. LSU didn't get a first down in the first half. Second half, we could not hang. I think the announcer said LSU was rotating 8-9 DL and 8-9 OL. If we lost an OL that game we would have had to use a TE at tackle. I still want to see one more year before passing judgement, but Todd Grantham's D is lookin glike a gem thus far.

Personnel have changed some between those teams. UGA now has better depth while LSU lost Brockers and Bama loses their LB corp. UGA returns their entire front seven.

I went with South Carolina. I was mainly looking at the stretch of Florida, USCe, and Texas A&M as the run of games a let down could come from, but picked the Cocks.

I just usually don't like picking teams to go undefeated, but I think LSU and Bama are definitely teams that could possibly do it.

What has changed at FSU that will move them to #1?

until proven otherwise, bamas run D (and lsus) are not going to get surpassed

That's just a ridiculous line of logic. I understand why you would say that though and it's reasonable you would say it but UGA will be HUGE, experienced, and relatively deep in the front seven. Moreso than Bama

  • I see us going 10-2..possibly 11-1 and win the East. I think UGA is the favorite because they have a ridiculously easy schedule, but IMO we get the hat trick this year against them and beat UGA at home. Lattimore eats UGA for breakfast and he'll be full steam ahead in October. I like our chances against Arky this year after losing Petrino and having them at home. They've had our number, but I think a lot of that had to do with Petrino owning Ellis. I have LSU in the West.

Scar is in their most difficult 3 game stretch during that too.

Talent level at Bama and LSU in the 2-deep last year is better than what UGA had on the field last year. You can disagree if you want, but that's what I see.

Lots of holes up front against the run last year for UGA.

Bama and LSU will probably have the best DL that either have had in recent memory. No one thought much of Brockers coming into last year and he was though to be a weak link. This translates to there is plenty of depth just waiting to shine.

At Bama, you have nothing but 300 pounders just about across the board on the line and stopping the run is never going to be a problem with that, and also return our best pure run stopping LBer in Nico Johnson who is in his 4th year as a starter.

We will have America's deepest, likely best DL in America. We were #4 against the run last year and return everyone but Bradham. But Christian Jones moves to his spot as a Jr and Nick Moody perfectly slots in at the other OLB spot. Telvin Smith and Vince Williams give us a pretty outstanding combo at MLB.

Brandon Jenkins, Timmy Jernigan, Everett Dawkins, Bjoern Werner

Tank Carradine, Demonte McAllister, Amp McCloud, Mario Edwards

Giorgio Newberry, Jacobbi McDaniel, Eddie Goldman, Chris Casher

Damn, man, give the 'Cats some kind of credit. I honestly think they'll win a few in the SEC, but I'm a huge homer. So, you're probably right in the end.

Lattimore was quiet last year until the end of the game. I think at half he was like 10-12 attempts for like 20-30 yards? As I said earlier we have depth this year and we wont be missing Alec Ogletree, who is our best defensive player, when we meet this year. If yall beat us this year, it will have to be like last year where your defense scored the points.

I agree with this. UGA can't really seem to stop good running teams, IMO.

I agree that FSU has a solid line, but you also just listed a good number of players that haven't stepped on the field yet.

That doesn't mean much to me, honestly. FSU's run defense was very good last year and you only gave up 8 rushing TDs. I can accept that, but I still look at 16 rushing TDs against UGA last year as a glaring weakness.

We just had players leave for the draft that never saw that many in their time.

Barring injury UGA will have possible 2 but definitely 1 first rounders from their 3 man rotation next year. The third guy will be a junior but he is as good. Our 2nd string NG would probably start on any other SEC team this year. He will be a 2nd rounder barring injury.
