a nation is as strong as its weakest link

we do have a dependency problem in this country

and that is a complicated issue (re both causes and solutions)

we need a safety net for several important reasons

1) economic -- take health care, having people go to emergency rooms uninsured drives up the premiums for the healthy and the working; a health care system that is overly reactive (and not preventative in nature) will result in greater costs long-term, lower worker productivity etc

2) moral -- obviously we dont want innocent kids (or adults) dying due to denied coverage due to some ginned up pre-existing condition; obviously that is the extreme scenario; but the fact remains we want our elderly to be taken care of when they can no longer work or take care of themselves .. and we dont want the poor dying on the street

there are lines to be drawn, and i have no doubt that at some point by trying to prevent harm, govt can do too much, and other harms result

there needs to be a proper balancing, limits, etc

but my frustration is i no longer see a republican party engaged in good faith efforts to fix these problems

too many of you would rather see obama's policies fail out of ideological convictions

truly seeking whats best for the country has been left behind (taken over by irrational fear and hate)

look at the debt ceiling nonsense. "country-first" is a lie.

I am going to touch on two points the first being the gun control...its simple..screen who buys them..media don't make a star out of the villain..they do this for publicity..as sick as that sounds the media makes this person famous...finally..assault weapons don't cause more crime..guns are a deterrent, except when they fall into the hands of people that shouldn't be carrying them..people with mental illness..ex convicts..and illegal immigrants shouldn't be allowed to carry weapons that is just the way of it. People get spoon fed that this shooting in Connecticut was because of an assault rifle just because 99.9 percent of the people reporting it have the company they are working for pressuring them to spin this to their political view..its a load of shit but that's just the way it is.

And this may be off topic but I need to vent:
I am sick of democrats coming out with the excuse of health care..seriously don't even get me started you voted in someone that has the task of fixing the economy, and the credit issue..but he also decides that everyone should get free healthcare..here is an idea..create a law that says:

"If you are not a disabled veteran, mentally handicapped, or severely crippled and you are out of work for longer than six months living off welfare you will have no government support what so ever until you find a job."

We can't coddle these people, we are the most unhealthy, and obese country on earth...diabetes is going to kill everyone..why? Because its okay to be overweight and not pay for your healthcare so you can go to McDonalds with your welfare check and buy the Super Sized drink. Its simple..lose weight = lower obesity rate in the US = diabetic rates go down = less money spent in health care = major help to the economy. No, we can't promote a nation of health, because we have no one in a position of power that cares for the welfare and future of this country, they are living in the now..trying to get re-elected when they should be starting from the problem..what is the problem with healthcare? The problem is: too many A) Obese B) Unemployed C) Illegal Immigrants that can't afford to pay for their bills so the government just decides they will take the tab..along with paying them to do nothing but be a strain on the rest of us who work and pay taxes. This country sometimes makes me sick to think of what its became..I love living here..but until we get someone in the White House that realizes we can't afford this shit..its never going to get better

AMERICA IS A FREE COUNTRY. What's so wrong with trying to keep it that way. And socialism and communism is not freedom. And anyone who believes the government doesn't lie needs his head examined.

But look, if you screen for mental health, your taking the rights to own a gun away from more than 60% of Americans, or more. Most military vets couldn't own one. Anyone who has had or does have a drinking problem or smokes weed, or is depressed over the loss of a loved one (but would never kill anyone), would all be banned from owning a gun. This is exactly what Obama wants. Everyone going down this path is talking right into Obamas hands.

More guns is the solution. Point blank. The lowest crime is in the places that has the most guns. Most killers are chickenshits and wouldn't do it if there was resistance.

Look at Switzerland. They have hardly any crime at all. And they have the toughest gun laws in the world. Only there laws REQUIRE every single home to have guns. And they are encouraged to have a heavy arsenal. And they get fined if they don't have one.

The solution is more. Unless the agenda is tyranny. It's common freakin sense people.

The federal government needs to keep their hands off our privacy. Taking away our doctor patient confidentiality, is not good. They are now required (by signed illegal executive order) to report anything that seems violent or threatening or an opinion a person is a threat, opens a whole can of shit. It is against our constitution. It is morally wrong. And neither I or my family will be seeing any counselors or psych doctors as long as they are paid for by the Feds. It's corruption and its to own you. Bullshit, this is America. The land of the free.

So no, I don't agree with psych evals. . Felony convictions, ok. If you commit a gun crime, pay a harsh punishment. But even then, owning a gun in this country is not a privilege, it's a right.
