ND, FSU, and Louisville B12 bound??

Doesn't matter to me. WVU kills A&M on the field, on the court, bowl ratings, and merchandise sales. Market? Like I said, check the ACC's new TV deal.

Now, I'm done arguing with you, because you never admit defeat even when facts are shoved down your throat. Have a nice evening/morning.

Our last debate was Mizzou/WVU...and it was pretty much a stalemate. A&M isn't really a debate in my opinion, but I'd much rather have WVU around than A&M based on personal hatred/disdain for Aggy.

  • Also, when dealing with markets...I think you all need to realize that a place like Birmingham is a better market than say, NYC...when dealing with college football/sports.

If VT is a national brand, WVU is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • FSU let the ACC put them in this bad contract. Honestly they should have demanded more money. FSU drives the ACC's tv market and has one of the high viewer shares and viewer ratings. TV markets is important to ESPN contracts because it gets money from commercials based on who is watching what. The more a team/conference is watched the more money they make off of it and the more they are willing to pay to keep them. FSU being in the ACC is beneficial to ESPN because they own all 1st and 2nd tier rights. Which means they can show all FSU's games whenever they want to if they want to. In the big twelve they lose this as 2nd tier rights are owned by FOX sports. This is a large brand to lose considering FSU is usually one of the most watched sports teams even when they are in a down period. And losing this school pretty much makes the ACC as a football conference a dud. No disrespect to VTech and others. With that being said its FSU's fault they were not happy. And its the ACC's fault they gave up way more for less money. Adding teams will force a renegotiation of the contract and if its ND that comes aboard the TV deal would probably be higher than the current Big 12. ND holds a lot of power right now. Too much in my opinion considering they are courting both Big 12 and ACC.

  • I think the Big XII goes to 16 teams...

    South:
    Texas
    Texas Tech
    TCU
    Baylor
    Florida State
    Clemson
    BYU
    (insert 16th team)

    North:
    Notre Dame
    Oklahoma
    Oklahoma State
    West Virginia
    Kansas
    Kansas State
    Iowa State
    Louisville

  • If we added FSU & ND, this board gets a lot more interesting conference talk wise.

Damn have I hated the past couple of years.

You are way overstating the value of ND, but there is no question (a) they are the biggest prize realistically still in play for any of the major conferences to grab and (b) they fit much better in the ACC than the B12.

How do you figure that? It's pretty obvious ND is sitting pretty no matter how you look at it. B10, ACC, and B12 would jump all over ND should we be forced to join a conference..

I don't like this for FSU...but add in miami or UCF/USF (yeah I know but they are both programs on the rise...) and it doesn't suck as much for FSU...take out BYU...

The Big XII would never let ND just do Olympic sports.

Not so sure about that. Our AD and Longhorns AD are very close. Was a lot of speculation new B12 commissioner might be our AD. I think B12 let's us join Olympic sports only for a few years, before trying/forcing our hand in football.

  • ND is not going to the acc. They would be stupid to give up their 3rd tier rights.

  • Agreed, you can call ND a lot of things but stupid when it comes to knowing their financial worth ain't a word that comes to mind...

Agree, the eastern teams would want more neighbors, GT and Miami

Yea BYU is way to far west, a lot of eastern people think BYU is close to Texas but it is not at all. Also they refuse to play any sports on sundays and it makes scheduling a b$%#h

I am always in favor of adding UCF to any league my team is in because I live within a easy drive to their games

Yeah and there's no reason to go to 16 unless in like 10 years the four super conferences are basically the entirety of CFB.

Big 12 should add FSU, ND, Clemson, and GT IYAM. Seems pretty cut and dry. Maybe Maryland instead of Gt.

  • Can 1 of the Big 12 fans(Rivver/MM) please tell me, using some type of factual basis, why after losing Mizzou, TAMU, Colorado, and Nebraska and adding WVU(slightly better than MIZZOU, at best equal to A&M) and TCU, they now stand to negotiate a comparatively better TV contract(comparatively better as in in comparison to the B1G, SEC, PAC, not compared to older contracts as it will obviously be better seeing as the value of college football in its entirety has increased).

Its not better its equal or slightly less but way better than ACC

With only 10 teams you don't have to pay for as much dead weight like in a 12 or 14 team conference

Except that you kept most of the dead weight teams while losing a national brand
