But really, their past records in bowl games and against ranked teams don't really apply to this team, this year. They are obviously better than they have been. Not that it means they'll give Alabama a tough game, but they are at least 3-0 against ranked teams this year, 1-0 against the one Top 10 team they played (Stanford).

Of course, that might not mean anything either. The last time they beat 3 ranked teams in one year was 2002. That year, they were 4-0 against ranked teams going into the USC game....and lost 44-13. Then they lost to NC State 28-6 in their bowl game.

nd is undefeated, either 4-0 or 5-0 when they're ap #1 and they're playing ap #2.
also, leahey, ara, hoth all won titles their third year.

i hate stats like this. i think bama wins and should win comfortably...but nd has found ways to win this season
