Yes, rarely. Usually not my first choice of entertainment.

I'm sorry. I did not answer your question.

It's usually just because I want to be able to talk to my coworkers and friends about it (especially if it's a very anticipated movie). Not necessarily because movies entertain me, because most don't.

Nerd that tries to impress coworkers by watching movies that don't even entertain him. You keep watching your movies, and I'll keep playing my games that DO entertain me. Sound like a plan?

I never understood the obsession with movies by anyone out of school.

Pretty much the same thing msn.

My post was not a personal jab at anyone. My brother and his friends would spend hours on end playing Halo when they graduated HS and were in college. Some guys love it, I don't understand it but such is life.

That said, are you implying there's a comparable number of gamers to the number of people who enjoy movies? Because that is a huge stretch. Movie watching is an average, every household activity, gaming is not.

I'm 25. I'm a little surprised so many adults play video games (or have time to play them).

I don't know anyone my age that still plays them.

Depends on what type of game I think. If you are talking about all games then I would say more people spend time playing games then watching movies. How many people do you know that play words with friends or anything on their Iphone?

You would be surprised. Gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry now. We are talking games that sell better than any movie ever has.

I enjoy both. Movies are fun to watch, games are fun to play. There really is no difference when you think about it. One, you are sitting there watching. The other you are controlling what happens. Either way you are sitting, staring at a TV.

I'm 25 also and I know plenty of people that play some games in their spare time. I personally don't that's not my thing.

Everyone I know my age still plays games. I have friends from all over the US with different backgrounds, cultures, what have you. Each one of them game, because its a good hobby.

I wouldn't say it's a good hobby. Not if you consider reading, exercise, and playing other sports hobbies.

I'm 25, a college graduate, have a well-paying full-time job and every single one of my male friends plays video games in one way or another. Women? Not so much. My fiance will jump at a chance to play Mario or Mario Kart, but that's about it.

Playing video games have proven to be very beneficial for both dexterity and critical thinking.

There are room for all of those. I read as much as anyone, excerise and play softball in the summer.

That does make a difference, I was assuming Bear was referring to PS3, wii, or xbox and internet computer games like WoW.

I wouldn't consider words with friends or various other cell phone apps as "gaming". Maybe Bear included those, I don't know.

I wasn't including cell phone video games. I was referring to the types video games you mentioned. Although I don't play any games on my cell phone either. I spend enough time on my phone between emailing, texting, and talking for work - I don't need another excuse to get on it just to get on it.

I watch TNA on Thursday nights, and sometimes Raw. Raw has been garbage for over a year now, though. Ever since they went PG and started directing their entertainment toward kids, I lost interest. TNA is good, though.

  • I didn't read this thread, but I agree with your sentiment. Video games are acceptable up until 5th grade.

Cue the nerds that say video games are mentally stimulating and help build social skills.
