Mixed feelings on this one, I'm not your typical hockey loving Canadian.
Guess it's just another sport on TV, better than nothing that is for sure. Leafs suck ass though.
Also sucks because all TSN (Canadian ESPN) is going to talk about for the next 6 months is hockey.

Way better then having an NBA game on.
Hockey combines all three sports into one.
The strength and toughness of football.
The grace and athleticism of basketball
The hand eye coordination of baseball.
I hate betmen and he's hurt the league because he just doesn't know how to market it. But these guys are extraordinary to watch. They're amazing athletes.

Do you ski or skate?
Do you do it at a high rate of speed?
Is someone trying to knock the crap out of you?
Are you doing it while keeping a puck on an end of a stick?
Can you throw that puck to another stick at upwards of a 100mph? Can your buddy catch it in stride while he's going at a high rate of speed and someone is trying to kick his ass?
It's a very tough thing to do.
All pro sports have great athletes the NHL is no exception.

I don't like hockey, but if you don't realize the athleticism it takes to play hockey you are touched.
Skating is not easy, especially fast. The top hockey players are superb athletes, in fact all pro hockey players are great athletes.
The fact you would even compare to it baseball is ridiculous.

Hockey players are way more comparable athletically to basketball than baseball.

Having played for 45 years all four sports, competitively and recreationally, I personally think it's the toughest to play. And it's not close.

Certainly requires the broadest skill set to be a good player.
People who have never played hockey fail to realize how hard it is, or how good the pros actually are. Half of the people talking about badly about hockey probably can't even skate.
