Name a player on your college team that...

  • wasn't great in college but got it done. In the NFL he has done awesome though. For Michigan this would be Tom Brady. Players like that and that are still in the league.

For Auburn I think it's probably got to be Jay Ratliff. He was decent in college not great though. In the NFL he is very good and keeps going to the Pro Bowl. Jarraud Powers is another guy that was decent in college not great but has really proven himself in the league.

Well you stole my two answers for Auburn. To a lesser extent for us, I'll go with Devin Aromashodu and Will Herring. I didn't expect any of them to last this long in the NFL, but they have proved me wrong.

  • umm

David Stewart. and i'm not saying he wasnt great in college, he just played for a croom team and therefore everything sucked around him.

he's become a fixture for the Titans and is great there

  • I really don't know. Maybe Brian Hartline? He was solid in college, nothing special and now he is making a nice living for himself in the NFL.

For the most part, with OSU it seems like the guys that have done real well were ones you would have expected to.

  • Only completed 1 year, but Chris Culliver played way better for the 49ers as a nickel than he did in college over 3 years as a DB/1 as a WR.

  • Matt Cassel. 2 snaps at USC starting QB for the Chiefs.

Clay Matthews was originally a walk on at USC.

    Looks like another perfect day.

  • Aaron Rodgers was good at Cal, but I don't think anyone expected him to morph into the best QB in football.
Matt Forte is another guy that comes to mind. I remember him at Tulane, but I don't remember thinking he'd be great.

  • Umm....maybe LeRon McClain fits into that category? He had the talent at UA but you know...played under Shula.

Other than that, Jarrett Johnson maybe? He was solid at UA but I didn't see him having this long of a career in the NFL.

    What about Mark Anderson?

  • Anquan Boldin. He was good at FSU but he did it with Chris Rix as his QB and all that mess called the Jeff Bowden offense

He was pretty good his final 2 years at UA, especially his senior year. Led the team in sacks his senior year.

Yeah I guess you're right, just surprised me with how productive he's been in the NFL.

He had a tendency to take every 4th play off at UA. Doesn't really do that in the NFL and if he hadn't at UA, he would have had twice as many sacks in his career.

  • Jonathan Joseph.

He was a good player for us in 2005 but that is pretty much it. He blew up at the combine and got himself drafted in the first round. I thought for sure he was going to be a bust but now he has become a Pro Bowler.

  • Bro was obviously talented but when he busted over 200 his first game I was stunned Unfortunately I can think of a lot that didn't live up to expectations. Sigh.

Brady finished his career at Michigan as the #3 QB for passing yards.

Many remember Drew Henson getting snaps while Brady was the starting QB, and some think Henson started games while Brady was there. Brady started every game his last 2 years at Michigan and was a team captain.

Disagree, David Harris was very impressive at Michigan. I would say he was the best LB at UM since Larry Foote. There is a reason he was drafted in the early 2nd round.

Steve Breaston. I figured he would make his mark as a return man but he had a very impressive year or two with the Cards as a WR. He never looked natural downfield when at UM and seemed to live off bubble screens.

  • Matt Slater has become one of the best kickoff returners in the league and was a pro-bowler this year. He did nothing for UCLA until his senior season when he led the nation in kickoff returns. Didn't think he had a prayer of sticking in the league.

Somehow Brendon Ayanbadejo has eeked out a 14yr career and has made multiple pro bowls as a special teamer. Was halfway decent his senior season, but didn't get a sniff in the draft. Great career for an undrafted free agent.

That's us, a bunch of special teams pro-bowlers.

    stoptothink

  • I can't say Marcus Robinson had a stellar pro career, but when he had a really big year for the Bears in 99 and they said he had played for us, I honest to God didn't recollect it at all
