  • 2 kids held a knife to my throat when I was about 14 for my beeper... Then 4-5 older guys walked by and acted like nothing was happening... Even said what's up to the dudes who were doing it...

Been hit with buck shot pellets through a wall during a home invasion.

Have had rounds break the Window above my head from drive bys...

Gotten jumped in White hall in the middle of the day because I was white...

Needless to say, now that I am older, I can be a very hard person and am always defensive about people and have a HUGE bubble.

  • When I was in high school, I was running late for golf practice for one reason or another, and had to drive my mothers 4runner over the old suburban I always drove. Anyway, being the dipstick I was, I floor it, until a few minutes later I realize I'm driving to the wrong course. I pull a u-turn, which was legal and not in anyway dangerous to anybody, and floor it again. On the road I was on, there's an intersection about a block from my house that has a large dip, at the very beginning of a 45 degree turn, and on the far side of the turn is a large downhill slope above a small park, about 40 yards down the slope. I'm hauling ass so I don't have to bear crawl the first hole, going about 50, when I hit the bump. I get about a second of air time- what was probably at least 3 or 4 feet off of the ground- but it seemed like an eternity. My car hits the ground, and literally bounces into the air again. If anybody else has ever driven a 2007 4Runner, you know that once your wheels lose traction your car starts beeping loudly, and needless to say the car was screaming at me as if I didn't realize I was flying through the air in a plastic vehicle of death. At some point in the first jump through the air, I let of the steering wheel, or at least didn't attempt to move it myself. I'm not sure if this was my dads coaching about not overcorrecting or what, but I may have saved my life.

I land with my left two tires on the road, and the right two tires come crashing down onto the grass. My wheels catch, and I zip back onto the road. I looked down the large hill immediately to see what might have been, and saw some children playing with their dog. After that short flight, I put both hands on the steering wheel and drove 30 mph all the way to practice, and then bear crawled the first two holes I played.

This entire process of me flying took about two, maybe three, seconds. Longest few seconds of my life though, and hopefully something I never forget.

I look like a puss compared to Barny though, guy is a real life Batman.

EDIT: I have later come to realize that if I was driving the car I was supposed to that day, the old suburban, I would probably be dead along with those kids and their dog. There is no way on God's green earth that old tank wouldn't have flipped if it was in the same situation, and the roofs cave very easily so that would've been the end of me more likely than not.

  • I was in hospital waiting for my son to be born and my wife was hooked up to all the heart beat monitors that monitor the babies heart beat, his heart rate dropped several times and set off several alarms and everyone in the hospital was frantically.running to our room. They made my wife get on all 4's because they said the umbilical cord was choking my son. This happened several times before they too her in for a C section.

I nearly died of a heart attack several times. He was born healthy and happy.

I feel your pain man. My son came early at 28 weeks and had to stay in NICU for 65 days. He stopped breathing for 10 seconds or longer 5 times in my presence, once for almost 25 seconds. They brought him back every time but that one time scared me worse than anything I've been through personally. Nothing can describe that feeling you have watching your child lie helpless, not breathing, not responding to touch. Indescribable. He's healthy today and has no issue. He did have a fever induced seizure a year and a half ago but those aren't uncommon and he's had no issues since...

  • Don't know if this really counts but, I was driving home at 4am after a 12 hour bartending shift. I came up to red light and stopped. The light turned green and I paused to look down and grab a cigarette. I looked back up to see a Semi blasting through the red at about 60 mph. I was so tired I wouldn't have even looked left I would have just gone through on the green. If I hadn't stopped to grab the cig, I would have been blasted by the semi.

  • I've had a couple, but the most interesting one (and this is the one that doesn't count) was being in a cage with the great whites in south africa. An 18 footer went right by me and I clicked my camera. She looked back and in a milisecond had the entire side of the cage in her mouth. I was pressed up against the cage that had 18 inch square holes and could have EASILY lost an arm or a leg. I literally was looking down the mouth of Jaws for about 5 seconds which felt like five hours. I have a video, but not of the shark grabbing the cage!! Dammit. All anybody on the boat asked was, "did you get a picture down her mouth!!!???"

Are you effin' kidding me, bro??? scared

It was so damn quick and scary, I wasn't even afraid. I got back on the boat and just stared for about 15 minutes and had no idea if that really happened, was a dream, etc... seemed so surreal, but I know what's gonna happen if one turns on ya' in the water and it's not gonna be pretty.

btw, why isn't there a college team like Hawaii called the Great Whites??? Only shark i know is at the UNLV hoops games!

  • I have a few.
I ended up in the hospital not knowing I had diabetes and almost died. the Doctor said I had less than 1% Vitamins and Minerals my body should have had. They told me I should have dropped dead of a heart attack.

One night when i worked midnight shift I was headed to work and hit about 1000 pregnant cow completely broadside in my new F-150 doing about 65 mph. I ended up waking up in the ditch with my truck just starting to catch fire. My seatbelt was locked up and i had to cut myself out and then kick open my dented in door. The only mark I had on me was a burn from the air bag about the size of a quarter. What was strange is I blacked out for a minute or so without even hitting my head. i guess it was from the hard impact. Truck burnt to the effing ground starting a pasture fire.

    LOSNOLES

  • I have three, and a couple of near near death experiences.

    1. ATV (04 Raptor) accident. Ramped off of a roughly 40 foot cliff (Granite Falls, WA), and bailed. I fell about 15 feet and clipped a rock with my backside which flipped me and allowed me to rag doll end over end instead of a straight fall. I ended up laying under the atv spread out like I was making snow angels. The random rock, my helmet, and riding boots saved my life.

    2. Jeep accident in 1999. I was home from college break and I was riding with my friend in his 89 lifted Jeep with the hard top on. We were listening to "Mudshovel" by Staind. We were on an access road in SATX, and got cut off by a blue Volvo pulling out of an apartment complex. My friend pumped the breaks because the car was going to straight up hit us, but by doing that it caused the back end of the Jeep to slide out and we went completely sideways. We slid sideways down the road probably 25 yards or so till we hit a stop sign, a curb, then the tires dug in and piled up soil and grass till it caused us to flip, and spin. We flipped twice, spun, and landed in the opposite direction on the drivers side. We didn't have seat belts on, the roll bar broke, and hard top broke, all of the windows were blown out. I landed on the driver, the center console, and because the Jeep broke open I actually had an elbow and shoulder in the dirt. The stereo head popped off and was thrown out, and after we landed the music came back on. People saw the accident from the other side of the highway and came to our rescue, but we were all already out of the Jeep and walking around by the time anyone got to us. There was an AAA employee sitting in his truck waiting for his shift to begin that watched the entire thing right in front of his eyes. He told us, "don't take this the wrong way, but that was the coolest thing I have ever seen", and then he invited us over to his apartment for beers later that night.
