Need some help truck guys

  • I'm going very soon to look about financing a truck. I'm looking for something that gets okay (i know trucks are bad for the most part) gas mileage, and dependable/long lasting. I'm working 2 jobs right now and I'm about to be done with school within the next year so i'm not really concerned with price because right now i can afford to make decent payment. I've been wanting a toyota for awhile, i really love the tacomas and the tundra would be my second choice. Are you guys more chevy, ford, or toyota?

  • I bought a Nissan Titan about a month ago and I love it. If I hadn't have gotten it, I would've got a Toyota Tundra. The new Dodge Rams are a pretty sweet looking truck, though.

yeah the Titans are nice..I open to any suggestions right now. My dad a ford forever that i drove some and it was pretty cool. I've just been obsessed with the tacomas for some reason. I'd probably get a chevy if i didn't get a toyota but like i said i'm still open minded about it for now

The Fords with the new V6 are awesome, almost as much power as a V8 but like 24 mpg.

  • Get a diesel, will get better gas milage with very little tuning. Cummins is the best engine. So i would say dodge 2500.

You're gonna spend $150+ at the pump but you said money isn't an issue so a diesel would be the way I'd go to. My buddy loves his 3500 dually. He's got it tricked out with 35s, tvs, you name it.

Oh yeah tge trip to the pump is crazy expensive but you can help that out with little work.

And if you dont like Dodge then the duramax in the chevy would be choice #2 for me.

  • I bought a 2012 Ford Raptor at the end of February & I love it. It has a 6.2 L V8/411 horsepower & loaded. Amazing everything this truck will do & I still I don't know how to use everything. Coolest ride I have every owned.

Several guys I work with have bought these trucks & a couple have pulled big trailers & they claim they can barely tell they have a trailer behind them. I like a V8 better but to each their own.You can not find a better truck than Ford. They last forever. I have put over 200,000 miles on one & never had any problems & every person I know that drives one will say the same thing.

  • If you go with Ford avoid the F250, mine's the biggest POS I ever owned. Had good luck with F 150s and Chevys. The Nissans look solid too, wife's got an xterra with absolutly no repair issues...

  • I've owned two Ram 1500s over the last 10 yrs an 02 and a 10...logged over 250,000 miles and haven't had any trouble with the either transmission. The 2010 Ram 1500 Sport has the new Hemi (390 hp/405 ft lbs) with cylinder deactivation where it runs on 4 cyls when not under load...if I stay below 80 on the highway I can average 18.5 to 20 mpg...running around town and back and forth to work I average 16 mpg...which is better than most trucks I've been around. As far as the new Ford with the new "green' V-6, a buddy at work has a 2011 Eddie B and he spends about as much time in mine riding to work because I have to pick him up at the Ford dealer at least once a month because he is having some issue with it. Transmission slipping; electrical; check engine light on, you name it...his must have been assembled on a Monday because he has had nothing but issues...but he still finds time to run my Ram down and sing the virtues of his new green Ford...

  • I have a Titian and a F150. The F150 is a lot nicer (will do everything V-8), but the Titian will eat iys lunch as far as power!! If I was buying a new now, it would be a GMC!

    GMC Sierra

    correct.

I have a 11 GMC 1500 Z71 loaded out and wouldn't trade it in for anything else on the market. Its by far the nicest interior on the market. After all, all your time is spent inside the truck you might as well be happy with the interior. I get about 16 mpg but I do only city driving (atlanta). On the interstate I get about 18/19 mpg. I pull a 24' sea hunt boat on occasion and can usually keep about 13 mpg. Its not the best fuel mileage but I am not complaining.

There is a HUGE range here, you could buy a used pickup for next to nothing that gets great gas mileage or you could spend $55k on a new 3/4ton diesel. For anybody making less than 6 figures(and not regularly towing a trailer/boat), a $55k truck is financial lunacy.

    stoptothink

  • the ford f-150 has been the number one selling truck for like 35 straight years, they are built to last and the ecoboost motor that is available should help ease some gas costs but any way you slice it there really are no trucks that are going to be great on gas
