Need some input from tBBers in ATL

  • I'm trying to find an apartment but between the sheer volume of stuff ProMove sent me and the unreliableness of Apartment Ratings, I figured I'd ask for advice from as many people as possible. Basically, I'm looking for an apartment in the Norcross/Duluth/Johns Creek area, preferably around (and north) of 141. Safety is my biggest concern, with location to things to do being second. I realize that, as a single 24 year old male, it's not exactly in the thick of my scene when compared to Midtown or places like that, but two things made me choose the area:

    1. Cost – I need a 2 BR apartment because I work from home (when we do rarely having meetings, our "office" space is in Alpharetta) and I'd like to have a dedicated office. I can max out my monthly rent somewhere between $1,100-1,200.

    2. Friends – I have friends in Norcross, Duluth, and Lawrenceville and I'd like to be relatively close to everyone.

I've been looking a lot in Johns Creek (has come highly recommended), mainly around the 141/Pleasant Hill area. But, seeing as I'm not from the area and there are literally thousands of choices (and no reliable ratings systems) I figured I'd ask tBB and see if any of y'all had some input.

The best places around that area is on 141(Peachtree Pkwy). The Pleasanthill and Johns Creeks areas are also nice. Stay away from Jimmy Carter area. It is a traffic nightmare in the morning hours and evenings.

  • Well, crime in Johns Creek is the last thing you'd need to worry about. I live in the Johns Creek/Alpharetta area and I'm 27 and love it.

  • That's good to hear. The problem is that I don't have any friends (or know anyone really) that has lived or lives in any of the complexes I've looked at so anything I have to go on is ApartmentRatings.com bullsh!t. I must have looked at 10+ complexes in the general area... Johns Creek Walk, Camden River, Avonlea, Wesley Plantation, Colonial Grand, etc. etc. etc. ALL of them get sh!tty reviews on the ratings sites. Which is to be expected, because only pissed off people feel the need to share it with the world. But it really makes the whole decisions process rather muddy and it's really starting to stress me the F out.
