New Georgia Abortion Law......passed

  • ramssuperbowl99 said...

It doesn't have any because if it did, the right to its own life would directly conflict with the woman's right to her own body.

    Rights don't contradict each other.

So, the unborn human being has no rights? I guess we're free to torture the little one then, right? If it doesn't have any rights that is.

So, a woman has the right to have an abortion at 7, 8 or even 9 months into the pregnancy? In your opinion?

Yeah, that's not a moral thing to do in my opinion, but she maintains a right to her own body at all times.

I'd be cool with that. Maybe we could make videos of fetuses being poked and punched on ultrasound to sell on the internet. That would be hilarious.

    Again, fetus. Not baby.

Like I said before, if we give the fetus legal rights, we have a contradiction between the right of the mother to her own body and the right to life of the fetus.

That doesn't make sense, as rights don't come into conflict by definition.

Therefore, we either have to remove the rights of the mother (which obviously doesn't make sense since we absolutely know the mother is a human being) or not grant the right to life to the fetus. There is only one sane answer to that dilemma.

What about when the unborn human being is born? It takes "rights" away from the parent. I have two children and can tell you that's true. You're argument won't hold water.

That's the unfortunate logical conclusion to rams line of reasoning.

    Who would do that? Honestly?

If I had to guess, I'd guess that torturing a fetus is legal. Just because no one is crazy enough to ever torture a fetus.

    ramssuperbowl99

  • A newborn is an independent being? Really? Leave one alone for a day or so and see what happens. Just as dependent on mom after it comes out, trust me. Only difference is if mom is lucky, someone else can "deal with it" so she can have a nap or, the true blessing of a shower.

So much inconsistency in this thread.

That example would be a logical consequence not a logical conclusion btw.

The logical conclusion would be that women have the right to the control or their bodies(which includes the egg, fetus, baby until it is born).

I really don't have an opinion on this so don't try argue with me. I'm just pointing out how stupid you sound. Sees, I'd vote to have most of you aborted right now if I had the opportunity. That would seem to conflict with my belief that all humans have a right to life but the way I see it, most of you are subhuman and certainly don't have the brain activity to be considered "alive" so there's no conflict.

Oh, and it is a baby...a baby I have more respect for than I do for you.

Thanks for the compliment. That's why I force people to think their line of reasoning through. Saying that the unborn human being has no rights is preposterous, unless we want to become barbarians. It's really more about modern Americans wanting to act irresponsibly and selfishly than about rights.

Well. He is talking about legal rights here, which would make him right and you know that last line is all opinion.

Independent as in not physically tied to the mother. You really don't see a difference between a newborn baby that can be cared for by someone other than the mother, physically separated from the mother, can breath on its own without the mother, etc. etc and a fetus that is literally tied to the mother and dies in minutes once that connection is severed?

    Really?

Yep. A child is dependent for years on others to care for them. Only difference, we can all hear them cry, only a mother feels them kick.

I love my children and would do anything for them. Listen up. As a parent, I am not able to do a lot of things that i used to do b/c of the demands of my children. My wife and I used to be free to do just about anything we wanted, whenever we wanted. Not anymore. We now have to sacrifice our money, sleep, time, bodies, etc., for the good of the children who need us in order to survive and to learn. The same is true of an unborn human being. The mother doesn't have all the rights and should be responsible with the life that is dependent upon her.Born babies are just as dependent as unborn bablies.

No they aren't. You can give them up for adoption, but you like your kids so you choose to keep them around.
