I hope that Romney wins the popular vote and Obama gets more electoral votes. The meltdown on this board will be ridiculous. roflmao

And why do you think that would cause a meltdown?

If it doesn't, it will be because of the young guys like you supporting him for some unknown reason. I guess it's because you have not yet graduated and had the pleasure of job searching in this economy.

Edited to add- never mind because you're going to tell me its all bush's fault, Obama is currently turning us around, we're on the right track, etc.

I support him because he is more in line with the values I hold. I refuse to support someone who is anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion, and who thinks 47% of America (myself included) are freeloading scum.

No he didn't say freeloading scum, he just said that they weren't voting for him and he is absolutely correct. They won't vote for him because Obama has convinced them that because Romney has money, he hates people who don't have it.

With the way our country is doing right now, I don't think people should be voting on whether their personal beliefs align. Abortion and marriage laws aren't very important and probably won't get any attention any time soon anyways.

I take it you haven't looked up the data on who the "47%" vote for? At least 1/3rd of people who fit this group (typically relatively poor people, the elderly and certain other groups) voted Republican last election. The elderly actually supported McCain 53-45 last election. So your comment that they aren't voting for him is wrong. In fact, every place that breaks down the 47% suggests a good amount of them tend to vote Republican.

Those in the 47% that aspire to better themselves and not be in that 47%, will vote for Romney. Those that have no desire to work and want food stamps, gubmnt cheese, and free Obama phones, will continue to vote for their caretaker.

I'm not even sure why people like you are fighting this. The nation's young people overwhelmingly support legalization. Only a matter of time.

"My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives"

Romney used a blanket statement to refer to 47 percent of this country, and then said that these people will never "take responsibility". This group includes retirees, college students, single mothers, veterans, etc That statement is pretty insulting on a lot of levels.

We absolutely should be voting on our personal beliefs. For example, Romney has openly stated that if elected he would appoint supreme court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade. That is unacceptable. I know economics seems more important now, but if you ignore things like personal views you may end up with a president that is more radical than you thought.

    Evolve: Obama gay marriage quotes

. “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.” - April 17, 2008, while running for president, defining marriage at the Saddleback Presidential Forum.

    LOL

More americans than ever support gay marriage. Within 30 years it will be legal nationwide. The Republican message of "social conservative values" isn't really popular with many people under 35

Obama took that stance because it is popular with church leaders. He hung around feminists and super liberals in college...you really think he was walking around quoting Leviticus? LOL

Once it became politically beneficial to say his true beliefs, he went public.

Um, yes. We can absolutely expect another Harriet Miers situation. Even if Romney were to nominate a moderately right-wing candidate, the extreme right of the Republican party would raise hell until an extreme candidate was nominated. Given Romney's willingness to bow to the extreme right (as evidenced by most of his campaign), I think it's easy to see a situation in which Romney forces his values and beliefs on others by nominating a candidate who is far from the most qualified, but just happens to be the most politically convenient.

And of course Obama would do the very same thing; however, since his values are in line with yours, there would be nothing wrong with Obama doing that?
