Smartest thing I have ever read on here.

Pro-life stances are to draw voters. When is the last time any of them actually tried to pass anything?

    I really appreciate the comment.

Barney, you could make your point a lot simpler by stating where in the new testiment does it say homosexuality is a sin. If everyone in the thread is stating it is wrong because of scripture and then dismissing the old testiment, then what are they really trying to say?

Romans 1:26-27- Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

It says on themselves which means you need to leave it alone and turn the other cheek correct?

Edit: by the way, that scripture is identified to Paul who was not one of the 4 gospels and had no interaction to Jesus correct?
How would Jesus' teachings have anything to do with a letter written by Paul who never met Jesus?

  • Any quote attributed directly by Jesus against homosexuality would be appreciated but I am pretty dang sure it doesn't exist.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16----- 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
    so as to instruct him?”[a]

But we have the mind of Christ.

Because he was struck blind on the road to Damascus, which IMO, would qualify him as a Godly man.

    Matthew 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

How is the writer of these letters more of a Godly man than the writer of Leviticus?
They are both in the Bible and not stating Jesus's teachings.

No, but if you truly do believe that he would think it morally permissible then say it now, and I will no longer reply because anything I posted further would be a waste of time.

I am not debating on which is more Godly.

I merely posted that proving that the New Testament does mention homosexuality. You might want to rephrase your original question, because I answered it with a verse proving it indeed does mention it.

Okay, WHERE IN THE TEACHING OF JESUS CHRIST DOES IT SAY HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG?

    Is that better?

This could also be a metaphor.

I saw my future wife and was struck blind.

You have to learn to not read something "literally" when it has been translated into several languages prior to English, and when it was written 100+ years after the death of Jesus.

Indeed, that could be the case, however, that does not change the fact that Paul was indeed a converted religious man, and because of Matthew 28:19-20 was given the authority to go out and profess what he believed in.

I am confused as to what y'all are trying to say. Are we debating Paul's faith or qualifications to write these letters?

Joseph Smith had experiences that made him a religious man. I guess I should become a Morman.

    John 10:43-36

Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’[a]? 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?

    Specifically verse 35

Everyone knows that homosexuality is mentioned in the new testament. The problem is most of the the blatant or cruder references to Homosexuality are in the old testament.

Its a bit funny that Protestant Christians love citing the Old Testament when homosexuality is mentioned, but say the Old Testament doesn't matter when it forbids eating shellfish or lobster.

You have to realize also that many of the criticism in the New Testament regarding Homosexuality was directed at the Roman aristocracy at the time. Nero was a blatant effeminate homosexual and may books were written during his reign.

If Pat Robertson got a chance to make up a story for the bible (Alas, he is 1700 years too late) he would warn against the dangers of "democratic black muslim socialism", or some other critisicm of the establishment that he views hostile to his worldview.

When you learn the history of the world during the centuries when bible was written, you learn that is just a book of moral stories and not the literal word of "God".

To each his own I guess.

I disagree, as a Christian I truly believe that when it says this was the word of God then I take it as such. Do I follow everyone of them to a "T", no. But I try my best to live up to that.

    Agree to disagree I suppose.

John 10: 35 excerpt- and the scripture cannot be set aside. From Jesus himself.

That is referring to the old testament, which, as we stated, talks a lot about homosexuality.
