Nick Saban will be the next coach of the Cleveland Browns

  • The only way I could see it is if he really wanted to take another shot at grown man football. At 61 that window of opportunity is quickly closing.

    I'd say there's a 5% chance.

    Saban >>>>>> Carroll

Carroll left to get away from sanctions at USC. He knew the hammer was coming from the NCAA. He left out of necessity.

Not necessity more like prudence, but he still was offered too much by Seattle to turn it down.

  • You really think a guy with Saban's ego wouldn't be at least tempted to try it in the NFL again to get that black mark off of his coaching record? He's cemented himself as one of the GOAT college coaches ever, but he's going to be seen as "just" another college coach who couldn't hack it in the pros unless he has a decent run in the NFL. Not saying he'd go, but he'd think long and hard imo.

True. If I was him I would think about how fun the challenge would be of turning the worst franchise in NFL history to a top NFL team. The Browns is where he got his connections to coaches all around the league. The Browns may be a certain place he would think about.

Coaches like Saban rarely succeed in the NFL. Jimmy Johnson is one big exception. He would be best staying where he is but you never know, some always want that next challenge.

In the NFL the playing field is equal across all teams ie salary cap, a draft, etc. Right now he is in a place that has distinct advantages over the vast majority of the teams they play.

As much as I hate him, Harbaugh has done well at both levels.

I don't think he has cemented himself as one of the top coaches of all time. He's got the titles. He needs more wins. He needs to get around 200-225 0 to be considered with the Bryant's, Osbornes, and Chiziks of the world.
That's important to him according to him.

  • Of course if he left tomorrow I wouldn't be angry with him one bit. When he was hired all I wanted was Alabama to become a top 10 football program again and compete ring for Titles. He exceeding those expectations. I think Alabama is is favorite school and when he goes into the Coaching Hall of Fame it will be as Head Coach of UofA. I'll always be a fan and wish him success.

Ummmm, why not? What college coach wouldn't jump at the chance of taking Over all the talent we have? Sure? Some guys ate happy and wouldn't come but we would and could get another elite coach. Would be dumb to think otherwise.

    While I agree with you...

Saban knows he got a raw deal in Miami and left that sinking ship, he would at least entertain the idea of coming into a better situation, IMO..

That said, if Saban had gotten' Drew Brees instead of Culpepper, like he wanted.. (Culpepper was considered 'less of a risk' at the time by most, with he and Brees coming off of injuries, Saban however, still wanted Drew Brees) I believe Nick Saban would still be the coach in Miami...

You have no idea what your talking about. Apparently you did not follow that situation closely or read Drew Brees' book. Drew's doctor told Saban he was good to go, Saban didn't believe him and wanted Drew to be looked over by his own doctor as soon as he got off the plane. Brees did it. Payton didn't ask for Brees to be looked over and believed Bree's doctor. When Brees got home, Saban called him and said he didn't think his shoulder was good and asked him to take a hugh pay cut to join the team. Brees said stick it in your ass, called Payton and joined the Saints. Know the facts before you spew shit out your mouth
