Nike vs Adidas

  • Watching the Notre Dame men's game last night I couldn't help but notice the UGLY uniforms they were wearing. Which brings me to the question, why is it that everytime Adidas tries to pull this crap it turns into an ugly epic fail??

I guess the ND Shamrock Series uniforms we wore weren't THAT bad, but even those took some time to grow on me.

Is Adidas' marketing dept. really that far behind Nike's? How does Nike have an upper hand year in and year out and Adidas continues to disappoint and flounder?

  • No idea why it's so difficult to make a decent looking uniform, but Adidas has consistently failed at doing it. I hate the uniforms with just the first letter on the front, they look like pee wee uniforms to me.

  • If it isn't soccer, Adidas usually sucks at it.

That said. Nike's stuff still is usually ish no matter how good it looks.

  • I actually don't mind Adidas' uniforms when they keep them conservative.

Keep it simple stupid iyam. Schools like Nebraska, ND, UCLA, Tennessee, etc. don't need exotic looking uniforms.

I guess that's the question. Conservative sure no problem. The problem is when they try to get creative. Are they really that out of touch? I mean the crap they put out in last nights game was just laughable.

It's almost as if they're saying, ''Well we can't compete with Nike so we're just going to mock them and put out crap''.

In 3-4 years Nike will be kicking Adidas' azz in soccer as well. Think they are roughly tied in that market share right now..

I'll still take Adidas boots over Nike any day tho. Puma over both

  • Asking that kind of question your going to get the same idiots that keep saying iphone is better than droid. Never mind the superior product, it's about marketing and perception, which nike has in spades.

It seems to me that they're competing with Under Armour more than Nike. I don't really remember Adidas going out of their comfort zone until UA started trying new stuff with Maryland. Maybe the Black Tennessee jerseys and the Shamrock ND ones.

Now, they're going for ugly looks just for attention. I can understand a school like Cincinnati who could use the pub, but ND should tell Adidas to not touch the classic look or gtfo imesho.

I can't see Adidas ever stepping in on traditional teams like Indiana or Kansas. Those teams would laugh at Adidas if they tried to pitch that crap to them.
I don't know I just don't get it. How does Adidas suck this bad...

Shocking New Adidas Basketball Uniforms Invite Mockery Online

An unveiling of some, uh, creative new Adidas basketball uniforms Thursday was widely -- and hilariously -- panned by the online peanut gallery.

Nike spends more on marketing and market research per annum than Adidas generates in net sales.

Not that Adidas needs to throw down billions to at least have an inkling of what doesn't suck though. Adidas US is the problem.

Won't happen anytime soon imo, UF, FSU, Bama, and a few others ( Oregon, duh ) will be Nike for the foreseeable future

    UNC and Duke are others

I don't remember the details but I do recall reading about how Nike has certain colleges locked up for a good while

Stanford will be a lifer with Nike.

I don't think USC will go elsewhere for a while either.

I am sure there are a few that Nike will try and keep over others. I also imagine they would love to have a school like ND.

USC is among a handful of schools that gets to test new items.
