I like your coach, I really do.

There is still a big difference in the talent that some teams have and PSU has. You saw that game against us.

You should be real proud of beating PSU, 27-11 with Rob Bolden at QB and an 80 year old man "coaching". If BOB was coaching that team it would have been a much better game that year.

PSU also would easily of had a top 10 class this year and probably higher with all the success we had. BOB recruiting with no restrictions and we'll have a top 10 class every year.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't need fast WRs or fast defensive players when you run that scheme.. My bad

Michigan needs better WR's no doubt. But the only players on defense who I'm worried about speed wise are McCray and Stribling. And they won't see the field for at least three years. So again, when it comes to speed (except for WR) I think it's an imagined problem, rather than a real one.

You have 520 posts and obviously don't know Devidee. I'll just let your question go as dumb.

I know Devidee. I wasn't aware that everyone of his posts represented the sentiments of Buckeye fans. Thinking that is dumb.

Which will still put you 8 to 9 spots behind OSU every year.

Congrats on being able to beat a 1st year head coach who had at least 4 starters transfer within a month of the start of the season...

Alabama is a great program and was two years ago when they played PSU. But you can't use that PSU team as some kind of comparison point. It had the worst QB play of all time and some of the worst coaching possible.

  • RATT, the problem is, our conference doesn't want to hire the coaches. We always do the "cheap" hire which nets cheap results. We have the money, but refuse to pay top dollar for the Urban Meyer's, Nick Saban's, Les Miles of the world. Our conference also refuses to pay good money to assistant coaches. In the SEC, they pay top dollar not to just coaches, assistants, etc., but also to upgrade facilities and make other improvements. Didn't Alabama just have a 9 million dollar renovation or something?

Until the rest of the conference is willing to pay the big bucks, it will continue to be Ohio State & Michigan atop the standings. Sure, other teams will be formidable too, but until we put in the effort in revamping the attitude of B1G football, it will be the 2 traditional powers mostly being talked about.

Pretty much. At least Michigan ended up forking over a lot of cash to get a good staff around Hoke when Harbaugh didn't take the job.

That's what I mean. Mattison is a helluva coach and prolly deserves more than $750,000 a year. You saw the results in your first year under Hoke. That's what happens when you pay good money, you get great results.

  • Didn't read most of the thread, because it got real stupid bout page 2.

But, one reason Nebraska struggles in recruiting and pretty much always has been from #10-25 is that there just isn't talent in our area. In the top 100 there is 1 player from Nebraska or a bordering state and that was Ezekial Elliot from St Louis. And I think there are only 5 total in the top 247. That makes it pretty tough, because to get a top player you have to convince them to move a long way from home, and go to Lincoln, NE which isn't exactly a great destination for guys from TX, FL, or CA.

Of our 26 commits, only 4 are from NE or a bordering state. Recruiting for Nebraska is not a job I am jealous of, it is a very hard job, and you have to put in more work than anyone else to get guys to come here.

For comparison Alabama has 15 of their 26 from AL or bordering states. See the disparity in area talent?

Nebraska will never consistently recruit like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, etc. Never have and never will. The key is getting the right guys on campus that fit the system, fill needs, and then its on the coaches to get them developed.

We are a top 20 class and ranked 3rd in conference. I don't pay attention to rankings much anyway. All about needs. I was just making fun of you for taking ESPN so seriously

that's funny, i was laughing when he said "make it" to a Nati. hell Notre Dame & LSU both made it to the game the past two years. coffee

Top 10 doesn't mean 10th first of all and secondly did you see what O'Brien did with our talent this year? It will be scary to see him with the talent we'd have with a few top 10 classes.

You guys are doing better than I expected. Having the #1 QB & TE to stay committed is HUGE for you guys. BoB is looking more and more like a great hire. I really like that Hackenberg kid. Really not looking forward to facing him over the next 3-4 years. Kid's a baller for sure.

Hack will more than likely RS this year, unless QB is a train wreck or there are injuries. AB is almost guaranteed a RS year.

Might be too good to keep of the field, but we are deep at TE and he's coming of the ACL. If he is ready by spring ball like the doctors think, then I think he probably plays this year. The threesome of Carter, James and Breneman is scary, best TE group in the country.

I said that OSU and Michigan are going to spank for the rest of the Big X because the rest of you blow in recruiting talent.

Well this isn't particularly fair to PSU.

We were well on our way to a top 10 class before sanctions hit. We could only sign 15 kids, a few early enrollees, and we're still top 25. Give us a break, O'Brien and PSU are doing pretty damn well given the circumstances.
