He made huuuge improvements. You actually had to gameplan for him this year. 2011 he was unwatchable.

Exactly. Against Bama, McGloin was 1 for 10 for zero yards. When he beat OSU he didn't even have 100 yards. It really is silly to suggest that McGloin simply matured... BOB and Fisher did a hell of a job with him.

Not that kind of progress. He was the worst returning starting QB and turned into the best passer in the league. He has marginal physical tools, but was coached up for success. Do you really think he would have had this success with the previous staff?

There were no good passers in the Big Ten this year, so let's put this debate in perspective.

Ohio State has 17 ESPN top 300 players, Michigan has 15 ESPN top 300 players and the next closest is Penn State with 3. If you can't make the natty game from here on out, you are fvcking sorry. The invitation to the game is getting handed to you on a platter. Thank god we are about to have the playoff. We would be guaranteed a Big X team every year.

RATT what are your thoughts on Notre Dame?

RATT what are your thoughts on Notre Dame?

    Huh good question.

I think that they are very close and that they had a real good signing class. Vanderdoes was an awesome pickup for where I think Notre Dame needs to go. Now that you guys are going to the ACC in football, I don't see any other programs outside of Clemson and FSU being real problems. Beamer at VT and their run is coming to an end and we'll see what happens with Miami and this complete fvck up on their investigation by the NCAA (I'm actually rooting for you Miami fans on that. Stick it to those bastards.)

I think that Kelly figured out real quick that he was outmatched in the trenches and with overall depth when it came to playing us. Don't feel bad because most are. I still think that he's going to go hard after some bigger players in the trenches and faster dudes on the edges. Max Redfield and Vanderdoes are the two in your class that stick out to me. Didn't you guys get Shaq Wiggins as well?

Anyway, I think Kelly has that program going in the right direction. I'm not real sure why Notre Dame went the ACC route unless you think of recruiting period. I think it's an easier fit in South Bend with the Big 10 network especially.. I'm assuming that Notre Dame wants those east coast recruits even though they have always been a national recruiting school. Maybe they feel they can sway a few more guys from UF and UGA but that is only speculation on my part.

I have a feeling that as long as Kelly is your coach, Notre Dame is not going to be outside of the top ten very often. With the playoff system coming up, they will have their opportunities.

Ok. Compare his stats to last year's B1G QBs which include NFL'ers Russell Wilson and Kurt Cousins.

McGloin's yards per game is by far the most of any QB from 2011. His TDs per game is second only to Russell Wilson. How's that for perspective?

  • PSU fans,

I'm not sure why Fatarat is giving you hell over Bill O'Brien. Dude is going to be the next Saban, Meyer, Miles, etc. if he can stick through these sanctions. Dude can flat out fvcking coach. I have said, and will continue to say, that I think PSU fans are underestimating what these sanctions are going to do though.

I mean the guy can't walk on water. The fact that he came to your school and stayed with NFL offers his way shows a lot about the man. He may be your next Paterno, without all the BS at the end of his career. I think you are underestimating a couple of down years ahead of you though. JMHO.

It wouldn't surprise any of us to have some down years. We are just cautiously optimistic because of how he has recruited and what we have seen him do on the field with average talent. As for him being the next Paterno, no way in hell. I think he really does like coaching at PSU and he is an extremely loyal guy, but at some point that NE job is going to open up in the NFL and he will go hard after it. I would be very surprised if he stayed for all 9 years of his contract, but it's not out of the question.

Would you have thought Saban would have stayed 9 years at Bama when he signed his? He's only two seasons away from that which is all but guaranteed now after all the NFL talks and Saban finally putting a foot down on that possiblity. I have to think that if O'Brien sits out ALL of the sanctions that PSU has without bolting, he's not going anywhere fast.

Well, Saban already was a NFL head coach, so perhaps he didn't have the itch anymore.

I will tell you that BOB grew up in the Boston area, has a ton of family there and absolutely loves the Pats. I have no doubt that he would cut off his left arm to be the head coach there.

You never know if the Pats will even offer him the job.

I just have to think that Belichick has five more years or so left in him at least. I just find it hard to believe that O'Brien would coach through all of the BS that he had nothing to do with, and just up and leave once he REALLY has the opportunity to go full steam.

I could certainly be wrong, and for your sake, I hope I'm not.

Yea, once that Patriots job opens up, if he is offered the job I think it would be extremely difficult for him to turn that down, pretty much is his dream job I'd think.

I hope they dont ever offer him that job, but Kraft loves O'Brien and Belichick obviously feels real strong about him as well.

If he can stay another 4-5 years I'd be really happy, at that point we'd be able to get a pretty big time coach to replace him.

Well have to disagree. He's still not cutting while running, and we have incredible depth at TE with Wilkerson coming off his RS.

I guess we're giving BoB all the credit for that, huh? Because college kids don't make huge leaps from year to year just by virtue of being one year older and more experienced.

Damn. Before the season people laughed at McGloin and said he was asbolutely putrid. Now you say "it was a normal progression from year to year and had nothing to do with coaching." Pretty hilarious.

I'm gonna copy FL Buckeye and go with: "You should go back to your homeboard."

I would say that you're comparing him to two QBs that had prolific running games. So, if he's passing way more than those two guys I'd expect him to have more yards and more TDs. Let's compare apples to apples here.

I like him just fine. I just don't think that the couple of months worth or practices he had turned McGloin from poo to this top QB. He's nor a wizard. He's a head football coach.

Well, you would think that MM's INTs would be up too, but they aren't. He only threw 5 of them. Heck, a couple of years ago, he threw 5 in the bowl game against Florida. His progress from Jr year to Sr year has been remarkable... I really don't see how anyone could dispute that.

Then what was the reason for his turn around? Was McGloin the wizard, because it sure wasn't simply natural progression. It was much more than that.
