Here's how things work up north. We make more money than anybody else in the country and that's a fact. NY Times ran an article that said if you live in NYC and make 250,000 a year, you're considered middle class. So bringing up the South vs. North thing isn't too wise or you'll lose AGAIN.
btw, having your son not play a sport due to the dangers is not telling him he's soft, he's smart. I'd rather be Bill Gates than Bill Bates.

I think you're wrong. You think the people in Denmark are stupid? Or better yet, less tough? LOL.. I use this example because I've lived in Aarhus and they are brilliant people and we can learn a lot from them.
Think with your head and not with your heart. Dude, I love football more than anybody, but it's beyond scary and if you don't feel for the people like OJ Brigance of the world, than you don't care for people period and that to me says a lot about you.

How about the Tom Brady's? Do you feel for them too? Or how about the rest of the 99& of the NFL? Oops
Will you let your son be a dentist? Because, you know, they have the highest suicide rates of any occupation. Dangerous that dentistry profession. Dangerous.

coach gomez...i said there have always been injury threats. i remember a kicker from tcu that was paralized from the neck down in an alabama game at legion field in the early 70's. jack tatum almost killed a wide rec. that played with the new england patriots. i said i felt badly for the early football players that did not understand the problem with head injuries. the fact is there have been alot of players that have been injured badly playing football before the multiple concussions issue came to light. these to were life treatening and they still played!

this
people get depressed and kill themselves for a variety or reasons and situations. football did not kill that man, however you want to spin your victim crap.
humans are not getting "less violent"...why dont you turn on the TV for a change or check out what's going on around you.
sure, there are good ideas and people are trying in some ways to be better people, but as a whole - the human race is the devil

Most of these cases are of guys who played into their mid 30s. Unless you play in the NFL, your chances for severe head trauma are pretty low.
Seems irresponsible to deprive your kid of high school football and the experiences that go along with it just on the minimal chance he might get hurt. As another poster pointed out, thinks like teenage driving are much more likely to hurt him.

I called this last year and think that it's going to eventually happen. Football is going to be banned. I hate to say it, but it's true. When you look at all the rule changes and the direction of our society (well-being of humans), it's only a matter of time before the greatest sport is banished forever.
I played high school football in 1988. The helmet has changed little if all to this point. When do they try and find a way to change the equipment on the head, rather than implement more rules to "protect" the players.
It's sad to see guys like OJ Brigance, Junior Seau and Wayne Chrebet... It's not going to change and they're going to eventually ban sports like this and hockey.
Our children will be into Basketball, Baseball and Soccer as the world dominated sports. Well, to be honest, they already are.....
Opinions?

Deion wouldn't hit a fly... He would run out of bounds when people came at him and openly admitted it. Smart dude. How's Wayne Chrebet?
coach Gomez for the win
