NoVa's Top 10

  • 1- Alabama
    2- Kansas St
    3- LSU
    4- ND
    5- UGA
    6- FSU
    7- Texas A&M
    8- UF
    9- Oregon
    10- Oklahoma

ND and Kansas St will lose eventually but its hard not to respect ND's body of work and Kansas St is clearly a very good team

Bama is still #1 IMO..... yes they lost, but anybody that actually thinks ND and Kansas St are better isn't worth my time, simply cause I think once the chips fall where they will Bama will be heading to Miami and will take on Oregon.... and will win easily

Everybody is ranked based on how good I think each team is capable of playing, not records or " what have you done for me lately "

  • C'mon now Nova, 9 for Oregon is a bit too low...maybe 8

No, but they are top 5. I think they would hammer UGA, UF, and A&M

Totally agree with this list, this is how rankings should be done - analyze the match ups and don't go full retard. I never understood how a team A can be ranked ahead of teams B,C n D for half of a season, then team A loses 1 game and all of a sudden everyone (voters) does a 180 and decides that teams B,C and D are better/could beat team A and jump ahead in the rankings. Kinda dumb IMO.

I don't have a clear cut number 1 tho. I'd almost make the top 4 here teams 2 a) through d) tho, most of those match ups are a toss up. If anything I bump KSU down but that's just because I haven't watched em enough. I do know that Arthur Brown is a fricken tank tho, I think he's top 3 in the country right now as far as LBs.

Its is a terrible system, I have thought Bama was the best team in america for the last 8 months, a close game loss after a brutal stretch of games, a game where they were literally 2 yards away from winning..... isn't gonna change my stance as to them being americas best team..... I see no reason why it should

I also think LSU is the 2nd best team still, but Kansas St is earning some respect slowly but surely

I still don't think from a talent standpoint Kansas St can hang week after week against a schedule like Bama's or LSU's

We're a nearly 100% results oriented society. Say Team A goes out and plays the #15 ranked SOS and loses two times, once to the #8 team on the road and the #3 team at home. Then say you have Team B who plays the #75 ranked SOS and has lost only once, to an unranked opponent. 99% of the time, Team B will be ranked ahead of Team A simply because 1 loss < 2 losses. I'm not trying to make a case for a one loss team to be in over an undefeated or anything like that, nor am I saying that winning isn't important (hell, this is football; it's the most important). But we talk all season about hundreds of stats and factors and then, at the end of the day, act like everything's a simple, black and white decision.

And it's funny that the winning-trumps-all mentality only counts for certain teams. I don't remember too many people championing for Louisville leading up to their first loss.

  • how to fix NCAA football

each team plays 8 conference games. in large conferences, they should use ascendency, such as the Premier League does in soccer.

after these 8 games, set up a 64 team tourney like the NCAA tournament.

no team gets a bye or plays any crappy high schools.

  • LSU ranking is absolutely terrible.

They are offensively inept. Great defense but an equally bad offense does not = top 5 team.

Bingo. I'd love to see Oregon and especially K-State or ND go to Tiger Stadium at night then follow up with A&M the next week.

Best post you've ever made, IMO.

I'd add a "commissioner" slated OOC game for every team to start the year, IMO, but after that I like the format.

Of course money won't allow any of this unfortunately.

Even with the current system, I'd love to do away with conference championship games and go to a 20 team playoff though with every conference getting in and the top 12 getting a bye week in the first round. I want a system that actually gives every FBS team a legit shot at winning it all on the field.

I think Oregon and K State could possibly swing that, but ND loses both games. FWIW, if ND is undefeated at the end of the year, it will suck to see them left out, IMO.

Still think someone will lose though.

I think his point is accurate. The voters (people) think FSU should be ranked higher. It's the computers that don't get logic.

  • I wonder what would happen if we got a rematch with Bama like last season. Now I know why Bama fans were so confident.. They outplayed us and lost at home, we out played them and lost at home.

Would be a great game once again but our loss to UF was BAD. Mett FINALLY "gets" it which will be good for next season... Also, our OL should be tops in the nation next year.

Good list, Nova.. I want to look at the stats from how LSU/Bama perform after our game because it's usually the worst each team plays each year.. Last season after LSU Bama gave up the most yards and points last season to Georgia Southern.

Also, would K-State be favored vs LSU/Bama in Vegas? I think not.

LSU's offense is inept, yet they racked up something like 435 yards total offense against Alabama's defense. Just part of the reason the OP's rankings are ridiculous. I also laugh at anybody who thinks Alabama would manhandle Oregon considering Texas A&M just ran over their defense with a similar style offense and similar style quarterback

  • Yeah teams actually improve and LSU has a great running game now, better than before with 3 starters hurt on the OL, the young OL starters have mauled everyone since the USCe game and Mett has been fantastic 2 weeks in a row, the kid has a cannon

Logic isn't your strong suit, I know. A&M played great and made just about every play. Swoope or Swope or whomever hasn't made that many huge catches on prefect throws by Manziel WHEN IT MATTERED all year. We have not played our best games the last two weeks and we've had to take the opposition's best punch both times. We were good enough one week, not the other.

The thing people have to remember - and most do - is that your margin for error in college football is so small. It's the only system that allows JUST TWO people to play for the big one. Next year, it will be only four, which is only slightly better.

A&M was a tough out coming off a tough, physical win on the road at our home-away-from-home. We're still a great team - just not perfect, and it ain't over yet.

Yes, I'll take our chances against Oregon or anyone with 5-6 weeks of bowl preparation.

Keep doing your sphincter muscle exercises, tranny25. It's coming in a coupla weeks.

Spare me all your bs excuses. Alabama should have lost to LSU, did lose to A&M, and it wouldnt surprise me at all if you lose to Georgia in the SEC championship game. You are not nearly as great as your fans and a few other tards think you are

No excuses were offered. Ha, you never disappointed. As I said, LSU and aTm played great and we were good enough to win one, but not both. No BS excuses. We haven't played well enough to have a perfect record. Can you wrap your little mind around this?
