  • Jeff4SC said...

A lot of talk about it where you are?

Yes. I personally don't think the North Koreans will do anything to America......but South Korea.....different story.

Sen. Robert Menendez, D-NJ, said the "absurd" threat of a nuclear strike on the U.S. would be tantamount to suicide.

Launching a nuclear missile would in fact be the end of their nuclear program as we would ignite it on fire with fire from above.

    what an idiot.

Don't most wackos kill a bunch of innocent people right before committing suicide?

    Go bucky go

  • Even if they tried I don't think we'd nuke them back because of how hard we're trying to get other countries to stop pursuing nukes...I bet we'd carpet bomb the shit out of them though.

  • N Korea understands that a nuclear strike on the US would result in its destruction. These things are aimed at their own population. You keep the poorest and hungriest citizens from revolting by brainwashing them into thinking they live in the richest, most powerful country and that things are worse everywhere else. The majority of N Koreans believe this, and also believe they would annihilate us in a war.

    Jefe5235

  • This is just stupid. North Korean leaders aren't suicidal, they're power-hungry. The best way to control their own population is to brainwash them into believing that North Korea is an actual world power. In reality, any provocative action will result in North Korea being turned into a smoking crater, and North Korea's leaders know that.

I'm about as scared of this as I am of that guy on a street corner screaming about when the world will end.

  • I always forget how ignorant this board is on foreign affairs. I bet 3/4s of the people here think this doesnt affect them.

Assuming the bomb does not detonate and release its payload them launching a Nuke would be a massive windfall for the HUMAN RACE. That would be the moment that China and the USA would physically remove Un and his family from power. Some form of republic is established and the region with the most technological, medical innovation potential in the entire world is stabilized. Would be amazing. China, SK, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong would lead the world in multiple fields going into next 25 years. The defining fields: robotics, supercomputing, Enernet, renewable/green energy. Only America could compete but with that region being functionally atheist they have focused solely on STEM fields for youths for over 2 decades. America will be hamstrung by our mystic background and the inertia it still produces.

Without getting too deep, you called everyone ignorant (which still has me laughing).

Second, please check the US record of successfully establishing democracies around the world.

Third, please explain why N Korea is the missing piece to this master plan.

Since when is going in and ripping a country apart piece by piece spineless? Anybody with a finger can launch a nuke, it takes power to breach a countries air and sea space and take over. If we launched a nuke we'd be telling the world that nobody is allowed to have/use nukes but we're 'MURCA and we do what we want.

Didnt call everyone ignorant. That's an ignorant way to interpret what I said though. This board, the mass of posters referred to generally, know jack crap about foreign affairs.

If you disagree then that's fine. This board has devolved though to the point where instead of disagreeing folks just emoticon each other and then spend the rest of the thread simply trying to establish that you are "a retard" or "freaking stupid".

The efforts you refer to historically have little to do with this scenario. These people aren't radical muslims. They are poor and oppressed and atheistic. If you liberate them and explain how different North and South Korea are the people there will sign up for free market democracy. Using information sharing methods unavailable to us through history we could pull this off with the help of China.

I said some form of republic as well. I am sure a sentence you skimmed over excited to laughing face me. If they established a government reflective of China's current situation it would be a VAST improvement. As much as any the last few decades have seen.

Again, referring to the 3/4s of the board whose only response would be "Who cares, its on the other side of the world"

This board doesn't have to be a constant assumption that leads to flames.

Still not seeing the massive impact on the human race; big impact on N and S Korea sure, worldwide, not really.

I'd be willing to bet whatever puppet govt is set up will not be the smashing success youre imagining.

That's not why we don't care though, we don't care because they're trying to launch tanka toys at us, if it was an actual developed country we'd actually be worried.
