Notre Dame vs Boston College

People watch ND games to see ND get beaten. You consider them "fans"?

You really think a 4.3 rating was gained from ND "fans" watching PITT take you to 3 OTs? REALLY?

ND vs OU was a 5.9....because ND was expected to lose and everyone wanted to see it.

BC / ND is no where near a loss for ND. ND has won it's games and the defense there is formidable, but you have to understand people want to watch ND because they want to see you lose--not because they are "fans".

Hate it or love it ND draws. weather people tune in to see them lose or see them win they put eyes on the T.V.
ND=$$ Why do you think they have their own TV deal? Why do you think the other networks trip over each other to get in on their away games? Ratings & money.

Two largest fanbases in the nation, ND fans and ND haters. Great for ratings.

That's true. The ND haters are obviously watching games.

Seemed like I was clarifying the original statement more than I was trying to start an obvious recycle of fact. Everyone knows ND draws their TV deal. It should be fairly obvious that ND also draws haters who want to see them lose.

  • Bama has no fans north of Tennessee or west of Texas? Wake up Irish,, knute has not been on the sidelines for a while. Bama is not having to wish for someone to lose to make it to the championship game!

His statement was pretty dead on.. Yes, we all know Bama is great! Outside of Alabama and the south region not that big of fanbase. Horrible 8 game, but BC has beaten us a few times when it wasn't expected. gun 1993

If you think Alabama has a national fanbase...then I don't know what else to say.

Sure, there may be a few sprinkled here and there in big cities, but nothing like other national fanbases.

In terms of national following(notice I said following instead of fanbase, because loads of people watch ND to see them lose), ND is tops.

NOTE: since you seem to have trouble grasping this, this has nothing to do with current football product. Just eyes

Bama vs LSU was the most watched CFB game of the season. People tune in to watch the big boys play. 7.0 rating to 5.2 rating (ND/OU); 11.349 million viewers to 8.627 million viewers for ND vs OU.

Waaaaay different. #1 vs. #5 is on a whole different level from #5-#8

People watched that Bama-LSU game because it was #1vs.#5 and a rematch of the previous title game. Oh, and it was tight throughout the game. Being Alabama had little to do with the amount of people who watched that game.

The ND-OU game had about as much of a title impact as UGA-USCe earlier this year, and I guarantee you that the ND game had a higher rating...in fact, I'll look it up now

  • Of course - it was the 2 top teams in the SEC, which has dominated CFB lately.

What have you been smoking? Jesus man!!!! Bama's fan base is among the strongest in college football.

Up until a few years ago,,, Alabama was the most televised college football team in the nation. That is without its own contract with a national network. Leppy/Ifinnen, you do not do that without a national fan base.

Notre Dame struck its own contract with nbc in the early 90's (i think). Do you realize it took 10 to 15 years for Notre Dame to pull even with Alabama on a televised level,,,,, with its own tv contract... And note, Alabama plays in the SEC which is and has been the best conference from top to bottom for decades. That means more teams are competing for tv time.

Yes Notre Dame has a great fan base,,, but so is Bama's!
