This is 2013. You realize this, right? And People are still homophobic in the South? Why? Because the Bible, a fairy-tale book, says so?

People in California are tolerant of one another. How exactly is that a bad thing? I'm not gay, but if some dude wants to go around slinging dick, then that's his business. I'm not going to tell people how to live their lives.

You want people to "respect" other people's beliefs and choices and the first thing you do is call a faith tradition's holy book a "fairy tale book?" Hypocrites are awesome.

You feel the same way about the Koran and the Torah?

Nobody was talking about setting policy here, bud. Some people don't like gay people. Fine with me. I don't like liars, hypocrites or thieves. I bet you don't either. I don't like people who kill in the name of faith, or provide exclusively because of faith.

But for you to attack people in the south because we have a large Christian following is just as short-sighted and ignorant as anyone wouldn't like gays simply bc they are gay. I live in Atlanta. We have a huge gay population here. I'm a proud Christian and have no issues with people bc of their sexual orientation. I wouldn't vote against anything that sought the give them more "rights."

But contradicting hypocrites are some of the WORST kind of people. "There's nothing wrong with religion in and of itself" ... followed by "In the name of the invisible sky fairy" ... it's a good thing being a misguided, hell-bound, asshole isn't against the law.

Because I don't have a problem with people who don't like gay people. Or white people. Or black people. Or Muslims. We live in the most diverse country in world where everyone is supposed to have equal rights under the law regardless of sexual orientation, sex, religion, etc. Blah, blah, blah. You can't make everybody get along or mesh. Just doesn't work.

I would not vote FOR anything that gives rights to homosexuals bc I don't agree with it. Morally, based on my faith, I think it's wrong. But I would never vote against it/them either. They're God's people, just like me. But I also don't like people who suck off the government and take no accountability for themselves, whether they fit under the stereotype of "white trash, trailer-lovin' hillbilly" or "lazy, good for nothing African-American." I pull for all people as long as you do your part and don't rely on others to provide for you.

I'm also not ignorant enough to believe that I'm going to change the way someone thinks - although living in the same country as me - who comes from a completely different culture and lifestyle than me. You know why? Because it's OK for you to think the way you do. Just don't be a hypocrite.

This country has lost its way. Anything goes now. The family-based society we were built upon is eroding by the minute. It's sad to watch.

Now we come to the point where an agreement is reached that we ALL are equally f'd up, and have our social issues we must work on to overcome....can we now quit with the "Southern by the Grace of God" snobbery? Because, that is what I encounter in the South and on y'alls message boards all the time...a holier than thou snarkiness that we (Californians) cannot match your love of God, Family and Country. Which is nowhere near true.
