Now we come to the point where an agreement is reached that we ALL are equally f'd up, and have our social issues we must work on to overcome....can we now quit with the "Southern by the Grace of God" snobbery? Because, that is what I encounter in the South and on y'alls message boards all the time...a holier than thou snarkiness that we (Californians) cannot match your love of God, Family and Country. Which is nowhere near true.
Well sure, from me at least. Then again, I'm reminded, a la Days of Thunder, that if you're from California, "you're not from the South, hell you're not even a Yankee ... you're not really anything."

It is somewhat true though, with all the diversity and people and cultures from all over, we cannot afford to be anything but tolerant...we'd be at each others throats continuously....

Haha, caught me on that one, lol. Check out my posting history, you will find I rarely make that error.
I've visited your lovely campus, and had a wonderful discussion with the staff at the Bear Bryant Museum, I was treated respectfully when they learned I was a Trojan. I was on campus at USC in 1970, and it was a thrill to come back in '71 to see the great Bear Bryant across the stadium - regardless of the outcome. Sam "Bam" Cunningham tailgates fairly close to us (he was born and raised in Santa Barbara, 20 minutes from my hometown), and it was amazing to hear the respect and awe he still commands in Alabama.
