Notre Dame's 2012 Schedule.....

Do they even know who is going to be starting at QB?

    That schedule is harsh.

We know who we want, but have no idea who BK goes with. After the way he handled the QB situation last year, who knows.shrug I'd like to see a tougher schedule than ours and 7-5 or 8-4 is what I'm expecting.

U never have a tough schedule

Our problem is after the first week in November, we just have cupcakes the rest of the way.

Just for fun, here's the rankings according to Mark Schlereth's "Way too Early Top 25":

    http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7537531/usc-trojans-earn-top-spot-latest-2012-look

    #24 ND vs. . . . .

    Navy
    Purdue
    @ #9 Michigan State
    #14 Michigan
    BYE
    Miami (Fl)
    #13 Stanford
    BYU
    @#4 Oklahoma
    Pitt
    @ BC
    Wake
    @#1 USC

Brian Kelly really squandered a chance to build some good will with this season. Blowing those 2 games with 10 total TOs in the beginning of the year vs. South Florida and Michigan meant the difference between 8-5 and 10-2. Given that that would have handed Michigan another L, ND would have likely been in the Sugar Bowl.

Now BK's got 2 8 win seasons in a row, with a very real possibility of 7-5 in year 3, plus blow-ups on the sidelines. How long do the ND faithful hold on to this guy?

Couldn't have said it better myself. This year he gets a freeby. 2013 is building up to be his do or die year. We should return everyone besides Teo and Eifert. He needs to get the QB position figured out ASAP. If Rees starts any games this year it's a very bad sign..

They may be co-starting Everett Golson and Gunner Kiel as well. Growing pains.

I seriously doubt Gunner sees the field.

Gunner will have more than likely transferred to another school by then.

  • The QB is the big thing here. ND gets solid QB play last year they win 10 games. If next year they get it their defense is solid enough to win 8 games and with good QB play could see 9 wins IMO. I don't think we beat Oklahoma, SC but all the other games are winnable IMO. Not saying they will but they can.

I really think ND's DL next year can be very very good, Lynch, Tuitt and Nix all played very well in their first years of playing college football. With a year of EXP, to go with returning starter Kapron Lewis Moore and finally some quality depth up front on Defense they will be stout IMO. WR's and QB's are where ND needs to get things figured out quickly.

As far as QB goes it's anybody's guess. The reason why BK has struggled to get a QB going at ND is beause frankly he hasn't had a lot to work with and he didn't realize the time the ND HC puts in off the field as compared to other places. He hasn't been as hands on with the QB's at ND as he was with other places, that is one reason Chuck Martin was brought over because he coaches them just the way BK does, where as Molnar was gone this year regardless if he got another job or not. Bk needs a guy who is more a BK schooled QB guy. Hence Martin. Crist was talented but soft mentally and frankly fragile physically, Rees is small, slow/unathletic and has a week arm. Not exactly what your looking for to power a great offense. Kiel, Golson and Hendrix are better fits for ND at QB, all young with little to no experience so you can't expect wonders but IMO they will atleast offer ND more then the others the last two years. I actually thought ND won despite their QB's the past two years.

If ND struggles to win 9 games a year with an easy schedule, why would this schedule be something they "needed"?

First off most every year ND's schedule has been a top 25-30 schedule. So I do not think that the weak schedule argument holds. But yes, they have a lot to prove on the national scale and that is my point. That is why this schedule was needed so. Hopefully the questions can be answered in the spring and this will be a year that not just ND fans will enjoy watching.
