He's telling his team in the morning, it sounds like a done deal. Smart move not jumping on Purdue and Colorado. Butch has had success in FL I'd look for them to start landing higher quality FL kids.

Have you seen what he has done in Cincinnati? He is a great recruiter with strong ties to GA,FL,AL areas. He is an excellent x's and o's guy, and he demands excellence to the extent of OCD. He worked his way up through the mid majors, and has a resume very similar to Sumlin's. He also knows how to get above level talent out of average players. You stick him in a program like Tennessee, and he will recruit lights out, and take those players to another level. Awesome hire in my opinion.

I don't think Kirby is ready to be the HC at a major program yet, at least I wouldn't hire him yet. In my opinion it's a big risk that Tennessee can't afford to take. This would be their third strike, and this one would be extremely hard to recover from. I think Kirby is one hell of a DC, so don't take my words the wrong way.

Possibly longer, I am not sure he would take a gig outside the SEC. And I don't think anybody will leave or get fired in the conference next year. He might leave the conference though.

He will if he's smart. He needs to start his HC career at a smaller school, unless he goes to Kentucky, Vandy, or Auburn.

he inherited a team that was going to BCS bowls...they are not in one this year. He better recruit well because he is beginning after giving USCe, Florida, and Georgia a head start. He's not a big name that will attract attention, and he will have to sell people to go out of state. He may end up doing well, but this was a settle hire more than a great hire.

I think you guys gotta give Butch some time. Guy has won at two previous stops. No reason to think he won't win until he doesn't.
I've heard he's pretty good, but we'll see. You gotta give the guy at least 3 years. Guy in Colorado got shafted....
