OKC traded the league's 2nd best SG

  • James Harden is LEGIT! 37 points 12 assist and 6 rebounds on 14-24 shooting

This trade will go down as the worst in NBA history.

Wow.. He would never get the opportunity to put those type numbers up in OKC though.

Kevin Martin is a very good scorer and they received 2 future 1st round picks and 1 is likely to be a lottery pick.. Harden was going to leave after the season was over anyways so they had to get something out of him. Jeremy Lamb is a nice player too.

I don't like OKC but I think it was a good trade.. Better than nothing because he was going to walk after the season was over.

Worst in history? Lol yeah right

I think it definitely makes OKC weaker this year, but they have a future to think of. They've made the decision to go with a more rounded team than use 90% of their salary on three players. If they had signed Harden to the same deal he just got from the Rockets, their supporting cast would be as bad as the Heat in a year or two.

  • They could have gotten a great haul in the offseason and had a much better chance to compete with a championship.

Harden wanted Max money.. OKC couldn't pay him since they were already paying huge contracts to Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka. OKC did the smart thing and traded him before he lost his value. They got a ton in return. A proven scorer in Martin, Lamb who was a draft steal, and 3 draft picks. OKC made out like a bandit in the night.

Among the teams with a "big 3", the Heat have the best supporting cast.

Let's see what Harden does over the whole year instead of just against the Pistons. He will put up big numbers, I just don't know if he will be that franchise player to win Houston any playoff series past the first round.

Also agree with Lesticles post 100%. Harden wasn't going to stay there, OKC got good value right now when his value was highest because OKC wasn't handcuffed. Martin is an explosive scorer and Lamb could be an excellent piece for that team (athletic wing, good defensively, and can shoot the 3). Plus add in two first rounders they got a nice haul.

Correct, OKC offered him 5 years 55 million, while Houston offered him 5 years 80 million. No chance in hell that OKC in the new collective bargaining agreement could have ate that much salary for a guy who didn't fit in their rotation as a starter on a consistent basis. Heck why do you think Jamal Crawford has bounced around the league?

I like what OKC did. That being said, if I was OKC I would have done it differently.

IMO I would have traded Westbrook and resigned Harden. Probably could have gotten more for Westbrook than Harden, and I just don't think a score first PG is conducive to winning championships. Get a pass first PG, and an athletic wing who can shoot, defend, and rebound in return and you are a better team than you are now.

  • It looks bad now, but it would have looked even worse when he just walks away in the offseason. The Thunder had to move him and this was a pretty damn good package for them. Martin is a scorer that will come off the bench, Lamb is gonna be a good player imo and who knows what they are going to get in the draft with one of them possibly being a lottery pick. The Thunder are amazing in the draft, I have no doubts they will turn those picks into good players.

It was the right move at the right time. We can argue over keeping Westbrook or Harden, but the fact is they had to move one of them.

With Harden on this year's team, they're favored to make the finals again...w/o him, they'll be lucky to make it past the 2nd round this year. Winning organizations play for rings, losers play for the future.

  • Yeah.. despite me saying what I said.. Even though OKC had to make a move because he wasn't going to come back, this is a MAJOR fail by OKC.. And their Head Coach for not starting this dude, I don't care how important a 6th man is like Manu, he's WAY to damn good to be a 6th man.

OKC should've either traded Westbrook (Harden is a better scorer AND a better passer) OR Amnestied Perkins to clear up some money for Harden.

OKC really screwed up here and I have no idea how any OKC fans can justify letting him go. I understand they had to make a move like I said earlier but I didn't realize Harden was THIS good. (OKC had to have known he was this talented).. You MAKE room for a guy this special.

What juggernauts in the West are going to make it so hard to get past the 2nd round?

Thunder are still a top 2 team in the West.. it's San Antonio and OKC. If the Lakers can get their crap together, then they'll be up there too.

BTW. LOL @ some guy saying Harden is the second best SG in the league. So 2 good games and he's better than Wade (who I hate)?

    No.

Unlike Harden, Wade actually shows up when it matters.

Harden was a no show during the finals and that's putting it nicely.
