OT: Anyone can buy guns, no questions asked

  • Does this worry anyone?

And yes I realize the entire Blue Board has a shotgun and a .45 and is a master marksman but seriously, is it a good thing that criminals have such easy access to guns?

Read this article just to see how easily they bought a .50 caliber rifle.

  • Honestly, I don't know one person in Louisiana without a gun.

If America was attacked, they wouldn't like going into Louisiana.

  • You can buy guns illegally just as you can buy drugs, dogs, sex, anything. I sold my Glock to a buddy and it cost $35 in fees and he had to wait 10 days for the gun that was held at the licensed shop. There will always be people who deal black market. Criminals end up with weapons. It's a price we pay for our freedom to own weapons and even if private ownership of guns was forbidden there would still be millions of underground weapons most of them being used for crimes against unprotected citizens.

  • Here's the deal. It worries me that people want to take gun ownership away from law abiding citizens. As for the criminals, I don't worry about them. They'll find a way to get guns no matter what law is passed. They're criminals. That's what they do.

Edit: I live I Georgia which has great gun laws. No 10 day waiting period, just a background check and you're good to go. Buying a smith and Wesson M&P15 next week.

Georgia is also trying to get rid of the licensing requirements for carrying a weapon either concealed or unconcealed for 'lawful gun owners' with the Constitutional Carry Act in the State House. It's House Bill 679 if you are interested in looking it up.

It makes no sense to require more bureaucracy to carry when someone has already proven that they are lawful through the background check when purchasing the gun. A second background check, more fees, fingerprinting isn't necessary.

That sounds like a terrible idea. More people carrying guns out in the open?

Criminals not afraid to carry guns out in public because the police can't possibly check everyone with a gun to see if they have a permit.

Why doesn't everyone also pull a Tennessee and let people carry guns into bars? =/

I live in florida and if youre not a felon youre good to go here. Just the way I like it.
Nothing against the police but they are only good for filling out the paper work after the crime when it comes to protecting yourself.
Not saying they dont do anything because they do, but If my life is in danger I want it to be in my hands to protect myself.
Criminals wont wait on you to make that 911 call.

would be a lot less stuff going down if everyone in the bar knows the next guy could be packing heat gun. Right now If you want to carry at a bar you have go to restaurant bars. In Florida if the business` primary income is from alcohol sales you cant carry there.

Disagree with that statement because when people get hammered they tend to disregard those things, and every night somebody in a bar is drunk enough that if they had a gun, they might get it out.

I don't care if you have a license or not, no one should have a gun in a bar. Leave it in your car if you have to have it close by.

Also, I fully support every American's right to own a gun, but we need to do a better job enforcing our current laws and certainly not relax them any. We also need to better monitor internet gun sales obviously.

If I roll into a seedy biker bar, I am MUUUUUCCCCCHHHHH less likely to run my mouth. You best believe that!

This would be the same scenario if I knew half the room was packing heat everywhere I went.

Do you not get what I'm saying?

People who are too wasted to realize they're about to start a bar fight would IGNORE THIS.

It isn't the sober people you would have to worry about.

1st.....Criminals are gonna carry regardless. It's what they do.

2nd....... Concealed Carry Permits are a revenue stream. That's all it Is. The only thing this law would do differently is take away the county by county fee they charge to issue you a permit. In Georgia there's no safety course you have to meet to get a background check so that should tell you it's all about the revenue, not about safety concerns.
Law abiding citizens with guns should worry you or me very little. I'm not gonna shoot anyone for any little reason but the constitution is very clear I the right to bear arms so that's that. I found this next quote to be pretty spot on......
A "right" is not granted by exception; a right is denied by exception. Law already defines by exception who may not buy nor own a gun. Everyone else is inherently qualified.

Now, why should the government grant us restrictive priveledges to things that are already a "right"?

I also think a lot of criminals would think twice if they know that literally anyone could be packing at any time. Currently, only around 300,000 Georgians have permits to carry concealed. Mostly because a ton don't wanna pay the 100 bucks it costs.

And they would be brought up on murder charges, but I get what you are saying.

Maybe it should be up to the establishment to allow weapons or not. I don't know, just don't take away my guns. I don't even want to carry it around at all times.

I was so proud of that expert badge. Not many had it. Most were sharpshooter or marksman. I qualified 3 times in 4 years and got expert each time.
