We've been several times, but just stay on the strip. The wife and I are considering a dramatic change in scenery, and she loves Vegas (I've tried to explain that no one will pay you for people watching on the strip or going to the O Show). She has a phobia of tornadoes, and we live in Tuscaloosa (tornado alley).
I guess I want to know:
1) What's the job market like for medical professionals (her) and any kind of business (I have a business degree from Bama)...probably sales.
2) Cost of living? It looked kinda like the real estate market would be easy to get a decent crib.
3) What are the cons associated w/ living in Vegas? (besides needing a lot of carmex for your lips)

Tough job market, except maybe the medical field. There are opportunities, but the unemployment rate is over 11%. Housing market is real good if you can find a house or have cash. Been here for 18 years and love it. Lots of opportunities, but you have to work to find them. We do get our share of wind and the occasional heavy thunderstorms. Dry heat in summer and dry cold in winter for most part.
