With both the NBA and NFL having work stoppages, I am wondering if the athletes are eligible to collect unemployment? Any idea?
I doubt that they pay the unemployment on there pay, but it is a very good question. Maybe it is part of the antitrust.
If they were paid salary by the employer, with U.I. contributions taken out of it and they finish a contract and do not have another job to go to then yes. If they were paid by the employer with no taxes taken out of the check and will receive a 1099 form at the end of the year, then no. They would need to file a claim with your state U.I. office and see what they say for an official answer.
