OT: Bryce Harper

  • Is up to 6'3 230 and supposedly looks unbelievable. Roid jokes aside do you expect him to become an MVP type this year or is he still 2 years away or do you think he isn't that great?

    Harper < Trout < Miggy.

I misread that for a moment and thought it was troll of the year. I'd say that's obvious though. Miggy's fat, 30+ year old self needs to train harder or he'll fall off quick IMO.

I also asked about him winning MVP and you compared him to two AL guys. Not relevant really.

  • Miggys got 1-2 years left unless he get his ass in shape.

Trout and Harper are once every 20-30 year players and we have them both at the same start, pretty cool. IMO the last super talents like them were Griffey and bonds. Trout is maybe more than that? His love of the game might separate him

So fat Trout has a future and slimmed down Miggy doesn't?

  • Prob a few years away. No doubt him and trout are some great talents

Not sure if I buy 230. He played about 205-210ish last year?? You can put on weight but not 20+ good weight in an off season. Not clean that is. Don't want to get into PED debate as he has natural talent.

lol, good call. Trout could lose 15.

  • Not yet, it seems like the MLB pitchers have caught on to Bryce

  • I would take Trout all day everyday over Harper.

And all the talk about him being heavy now is pointless. Trout has 80 grade speed - elite. 10 pounds isn't going to affect him much (maybe he only gets 40 stolen bases instead of 50). Plus, he's playing left field now not center....and the dude in center might be even faster than he is. So, he will need to cover way less ground. He's gonna add to his power and still be the most hybrid power:speed guy in the bigs.

Everyone at that level oozes natural talent.

Pretty sure we all expect the kids we watch in cfb to put on that kind of weight right? Don't get many PED references even though that might be what it is.

Trout missed a month of the season and led the league in steals, I'm fairly confident he's at a good playing weight...

Trout can easily get 40 SBs. He had 49 last season in only 139 games. Trout is a freak player

    oh me too.

I think Bryce does struggle with his average but not that bad. .278 28 stls 29hrs 88rbis

    I think next season he finally goes .290 24stls 36hrs 118rbis

  • He'll settle down in a yr or 2, imo.

I always give this newer generation a few yrs, before I expect to see them even attempt to reach their full potential.

If they can make a serious threat at the pennant, then hopefully he can turn it on sooner.

Some guys are grinders. Yes they have ability. But natural ability like Harper, trout, Griffey, etc is not in everyone

As far as weight gain and college kids. Many guys start to really mature 18, 19, etc. add that to a real training program that most have not been exposed to have a better chance of the weight gain

I played in college and past that, I've seen all kinds, the workers and the natural god gift type
