Didn't know there was a show but I've seen the movie. That dude started a "relationship" after he got a painting of one his photos from a little girl. He ended talking to this whole family on the phone and over the internet, and eventually started up a thing with the oldest daughter.
Turned out it was all the same woman talking to him and sending him paintings. She lived in the middle of nowhere with her creepy disabled sons and husband and had created an entire fake family online.
