OT: Concealed Carry gun

  • I want some recommendations on a new gun. I want it to be my new carry gun. I currently carry a smith and wesson M&P 40. It's the standard size. I love the gun, but I want something a little smaller (compact). But here's the thing, I hate the grips on compact pistols. I don't like my pinkie hanging off.

So do you guys have any recommendations on compact guns with standard size grips?

If you are going to be a coward POS, be a coward POS with a big gun IMO.

H&K USP 9mm/40sw Compact - compact size gun, easily fits in your hand, even if you have a bigger hand. Very reliable. My favorite handgun I own.

Walther PPS 9mm. This is my carry gun. It's small enough to fit in your pocket, but with the magazine extensions it again easily fits in your hand.

    Them be my recommendations.

Seriously not even trying to start anything or get attention. This is my Christmas present from the old lady and was trying to get ideas.

my daily carry gun is a Springfield EMP 40 cal
Its very nice imo, but also expensive for a hand gun. $1200.00 when I bought it a year or two ago. I feel the same way as you about the grip. I have large hands and this one fits me perfect.

I don't think it will exactly be in the price range. Lol

Beautiful gun though. My dad has something similar to that made by ATI.

    Glock model 27.
You can get a clip extension that matches the grip for your pinkie, it also gives you one more round. It does not add to much to the gun either.

    Glock 27 | G27 | .40 Caliber Pistol | GLOCK USA

Small, light, accurate, powerful: all describe the GLOCK 27. That's why many law enforcement agencies issue this subcompact .40 as their backup pistol.

    Link to the extension.

Just never have loved the way they fit in my hand. Atleast the ones I've held and shot anyways.

  • I'm partial to the sig sauer line.

    I've handled a 220 Compact and think it's nice.

    But it's a .45 and costs a grand.

    What's your top dollar?

I'd maybe go a grand if I absolutely loved it. I would just add on my own money. My limit from my lady is 600.

Is your MP 40 a regular or compact?

    nevermind-- just read it's standard.

Have you looked at the MP 40 compact?

I gotta believe S&W offers a magazine that lengthens the grip.

Regular. A buddy of mine has the compact version and I shot it and didn't really like the snappiness to it. It was much more snappy than the regular. I understand the 40. Caliber is a "snappy" caliber. But the compact version of mine was ridiculous. IMO.

They do. But even with it on, my pinky still hangs off slightly. (I know, I'm picky. Lol)

And the snappiness I talked about above.

  • I love the Glock 23 .40 cal. Carried it for 10+ years. I've put thousands of rounds through it and never had a single malfunction. The new Walthers are very very nice but I can't swear by them like I can the Glock. They have some great grip covers if you don't like the feel.
