How many were killed, came back to life, and appeared to hundreds of people? Paul wrote about a group of 500 who Jesus appeared to. He included in his letter that if you didn't believe Paul, go talk to these people, because most of them are still alive. Pretty bold statement if he was full of bs.

Very many actually. The second coming of a "hero" was not novel idea at the time.

Nope, I actually love science and technology. You saying scientist proved the 6000 year old myth false doesn't make it true. And why would that be troll? I stated exactly what the bible teaches

So you're one of those people who take the Bible literally?

Nope. I just was going through the thread and some people were confused to why certain thermodynamic and mechanic laws didn't fit with other theories. It's because the universe isnt a closed system.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

maybe I misread it, I thought you were saying Jesus is not God the father?

I'm not sure I believe he is but Christians believe he is God. My point was about how a lot of Christians believe that because that's how they were raised. Much like I'm a Bama fan because my Dad is, some people are racist because their parents are, some people are Christians simply because their parents are.

My point is had a lot of Christians in the US been born in a mostly Muslim country or to a family of a different religion in America, they likely wouldn't be Christians. I think it's as coincidental as most things in life yet most Christians will argue to the death that Jesus is God. Just an observation.

To the guy who answered my Big Bang question, I agree. My main issue with the Big Bang and evolution is where did it all come from? Someone or thing had to create something for it to expand or evolve. That's why I believe there is a God or creator.

I see, but isn't that the parents job as a Christian to bring your children up as Christians? I was and I did.

Not a problem. I was raised Catholic. Went thru everything required in the church (confirmation, etc). I just have my doubts now. Too many bad things happening. Too much scientific shit, dinosaurs, evolution, etc.

  • Given how much evidence there is against so much in the Bible, and particularly the idea that the Earth is only 6000 years old, I don't know how anyone would take it literally. I mean you have to be wilfully blind to do so.

If you believe that your faih goes against all reason and logic, which is not a good thing as that's when you get into the fanatical areas of any religion which we've all seen end poorly.

Im not talking about those stories because I already posted a link about how we as Christians do not have to live like that anymore. But you just admitted that you might not know anything. So why should anyone take anything that you say seriously when you admit to not being sure about anything?

Everyone keeps stating that the Bible has been proven wrong time after time. Stating something doesn't make it true! I have no clue what you are or claim to be but without God you cannot account for logic.

so this is really a "do you believe in the bible or not thread". Well the bible doesn't mention dinosaurs (I don't know why it would), so it's kind of useless to use one to prove or disprove the other.

The bible does mention dinosaurs. In the Bible, in Job 40:15–24, God describes to Job (who lived after the Flood) a great beast with which Job was familiar. This great animal, called “behemoth,” is described as “the chief of the ways of God,” perhaps the biggest land animal God had created. Impressively, he moved his tail like a cedar tree! Although some Bible commentaries say this may have been an elephant or hippopotamus, the description actually fits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus. Elephants and hippos certainly do not have tails like cedar trees!

The fact that Methuselah lived to be 969 years old is just one example of the "non-literalness" of biblical time periods. Numbers were in fact very symbolic in early Judaism (watch Darron Aronofsky's first film Pi) and probably carried on into early christianity as well.

I don't see where you could get that by taking a literal interpretation.
