My degree made great toilet paper.

I've got a degree in history but came out of school into sales.

Engineering degree. Yes, I used it.

I'd say 40% of the upper level guys in my company don't have degrees. It's a more result based place.

I'd say that a degree in PE wouldn't be looked down on because just having the piece of paper is almost expected now. It really depends on the company as some put a lot of weight into what you majored in and some don't.

What do you want to do?

Haha good question. I've bounced around in college a lot and wound up in PE after going through business, math, sports management, athletic training and now PE. I like PE and I think it's really important, but the girl I've been with for a few years now is training to become a social worker so it's not looking likely that we'll be wealthy by any means. I really have wanted to coach my whole life and I want to do something that's impactful, but the only areas coaching really pays off are in specialized schools or college-pro ranks and I feel like most coaches have experience playing at those levels and I only have 1 year of college, so I wouldn't really qualify unless I had strong connections.

I guess I don't really know what I want to do even though I'm beginning my senior year.

I want to work in athletics, whether it's as a coach or someone behind the scenes. I am gaining interest in working with camps at a university - but those types of jobs require networking, and my branches aren't too extended.

My mom was a PE teacher for 35 years. She had a masters in 20 of it. She has so many awards hanging in her office (she consults now), it's silly...and she topped out at 50K a year.

IF they're makeing 80K, it's because they're coaching something...not because they revolutionized the profession. There is very little to revolutionize because there is no damn money (hence the salary in question)

EDIT: Majors aren't supposed to be "fun". I majored in Biochem and survived from Vandy/Lipscomb with a 3.2 and busted my ass to do so.

The teachers I'm referencing are probably in private schools. Fortunately the PE programs have drastically changed from what they used to be as they are more focused on fitness and health education to promote healthy lifestyles. Not sure how your mom taught it, or how the Florida education system is structured differently from Ohio, but they are near 80,000.

And congrats on your Biochem degree and your ability to work as hard as you did to achieve, but who says majors aren't supposed to be fun? Maybe you went for something you didn't enjoy if you didn't like it in college or that didn't naturally fit you. Not saying all classes are fun, but I have enjoyed my classes at Ohio State and have found that majority of my classes have been fun, including my classes in math, business and accounting, and general ed. classes. This is probably due to a different attitude towards classes or teaching styles of professors from where you attended and mine. I love my major, and it is a lot of FUN. I have a 3.9 in my major classes and I've busted my ass and worked two jobs to get me through college, so don't get mad at me or my major selection because I find it to be FUN and enjoy what I'm doing.
