Just heard it from the trainer on the DP show.
I don't follow horse racing, but what a bummer.

Well Belmont is losing at least 1 viewer with this news. I imagine many more will also not watch now that this has come to late.

Bodemeister was the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
I'll have another was a 4-5 favorite. Tough to say whether he would have won it or not, but he won't win it now. Out for three months. Probably won't race again.

The Belmot is the most difficult of the 3 to win do to the length of the track. We have seen a lot of horses win the first two legs of the triple crown before. There is a reason that none have won the third since '78.

Seen where he is worth 6 million now for breeding purposes. Not a bad life now for the horse, lol. Plus the owner has made a handsome profit

You would be surprised. They do live breeding in thorobred and the mares are less than happy about it. They kick out and are just not very receptive a lot of times.

It is not cursed it just takes a lot of things to fall into place. Yes there were 3 in the 70's but there has still only been 12 or 13 all time or something like that.
It just doesn't happen much. Same with the triple crown in baseball.

most of the mares are sedated and hobbled and often mounted by a "teaser" first to insure the breeding stallion's safety....too bad about I'll Have Another, but he was still a helluva $35,000 investment...

True. I would hate to work on a breeding farm. Some of those studs are crazy.

cant argue with that, you are probably right, I was lucky enough to see Secretariat run, guess that's why I named him. still its hard to compare horses from such different eras .

Actually I believe it's 11 winners all time. This is disappointing, as it's always fun to watch history.
