OT- Just had an Older Man

  • ...come down from his house and stand on the cart path not 100 yards from me. I saw him, but didn't think much of it. But as I got close, in a very angry voice, he asks me just what the hell I think I'm doing. Shocked, I look around dumbfounded. He proceeds to tell me the golf course is private property and I had no business running there. I go by 10 people each day after dark (after the course is closed) running the same course they are. I've been doing this for like 3 years 5 times a week. So he picks me to stop? Dude was pissed too.

    Can they arrest me for this? Because I run every morning and sometimes at night and I will not be giving it up. What can happen to me tBB?

    No, you'd have to get a trespass warning first. I'd keep running on the course.

    Some of the neighborhoods are gated. Some are not. I'll blow it laughing trying to defuse the situation. But the Alpha in me wants run up on him right now; tomm. will be worse., He's at his house smiling and talkign shit to his wife. It will be hard to stop me if he does that again.

  • Depends on state and local laws. Unless Willie knows where you live and looked up the laws, there's a possibility that you can be arrested/ticketed/removed right off the bat - there's no universal warning requirement.

    However, unless the old man owns the golf course, he doesn't have any authority whatsoever to tell you to leave, so if you're willing to just tell him to shove it, he can't touch you. The most he can do is call the cops.
