    golf course isn't HIS property either, how does he know you also aren't a resident? If I had to guess, he takes heart meds and his doc told him no mo viagra.

    It's entirely possible that the HOA makes it almost impossible for anyone younger than a certain age to live in the neighborhood, so anyone young and running around clearly isn't a resident.

  • If he had come down nicely and said, "Hey man, we're trying to keep this course free from non-members". Can we please ask you to run somewhere else?" I would have hated it, but I would have done it with respect. But this asshole might just learn a lesson from this. We will see..

  • My course is private and gated so there rarely is a problem like that but you absolutely would get arrested and charged if a member wanted.

    While he could be a visitor, there are HOAs that literally make it impossible for any young people (even kids) to live in a neighborhood.

    I agree that the old guy's being a bit ridiculous if weedline isn't harming anyone by running, but it's a pretty reasonable assumption in some areas that he isn't a resident/home owner.

    Hmm. Well, like I said, the guy can't touch you. He can call the cops, but they'll most likely just come and give you a warning since you're a resident in the neighborhood. It's up to you whether you want to fight it, but the law's on the old guy's side. The golf course is private property, so you are technically trespassing when you run on it. It's also entirely possible that the golf course has a dress code, so you might be violating the dress code even if you were a member. Either way, this basically comes down to how far you and the old guy are willing to take it, but the law isn't on your side.

    If he stops you again, this is what you say...

    "Do you have any idea who you are talking to?"

    This always stops them in their tracks while they ponder for a moment if they do in fact know who they are talking to.

    Then just make something up while he is pondering. Something way out there that you would never be able to pull off.

    "If you ever want to play this course again, I would shut that sucker of yours"

    And then just keep running while he stands there mouth open and breathing heavily like old people do.

I would just go to the clubhouse when it's open, talk to the pro and ask if its cool if you run the course during after business hours and let him know you live on the course. I'm sure he won't care.

    If it's indeed private property the police (not him) have to give you a verbal warning.
