OT: Official Halo 4 Thread

    Has anyone run into the problem of being put in with all top levels? I am only level 10 I think and got a couple games last night with multiple 30+. It is annoying because at the time I didn't even have my 3rd perk unlocked yet they had everything unlocked. I wish for matchmaking we had the skill system of Halo 2 (or was it 3 where it was a number 1-50 that went up/down based on how you performed?).

    Also what is everyone's favorite map so far? Mine is the small circular one that is two levels, Haven I think it is called. Constant action and good gunplay IMO.

    There be a 1-50 implemented, and im a SR36 and I mostly play against people who are around 25+. Haven is an amazing map. Im not a big fan of Adrift or Complex, but Solace is really good as well. However the game needs more weapon drops, random weapons spawning is dumb, and the smart players get shafted by the timing of weapons. Setting up to get a power weapon is part of the game, and it isn't now

    Hopefully there's Custom Game options to make weapon spawns constant. I think they'll be able to set up a really good MLG playlist without having to completely butcher the game.

    There's no way Cortana died IMO. She's basically a co-main character with Chief. 343 has said they want to make John more human (and less machine-like) in their trilogy and I think we can already see that happening at the end of Halo 4. I've read a few threads on it and the most interesting scenario I've seen talked about how the only way to totally cure rampancy is to provide a vessel in which Cortana's mind could think endlessly, and that's a brain. And remember that the Didact was working with organic-to-machine and vice versa technology. I'm not sure how most fans would feel about Halo ending up as a love story between the Chief and Cortana (it wouldn't really bother me, the guy's earned a happy ending I'd say lol), but I could totally see that happening.

    Oh, and I definitely don't think we've seen the last of the Didact.

    That's a good question. The only one we know about is the Didact. The Librarian's AI didn't address it if I recall.

  • Can't wait for the mlg pro V playlists. I've played competitively since halo 1.. Played against Instinct, Triggers Down, believe the hype, final boss and more. I do not like the COD style and the maps are to big for my liking. I'm a no radar, control and time power weapons/Custom and map control type player from playing tourneys (mlg Dallas, meadowlands, Columbus) for the past decade. Xbconnect.com for online halo 1.. ARs in slayer pro is stupid. Game has GREAT potential, just not good for competitive playing until mlg is out.

    Upvotes coming your way!!! I didn't get into Halo until H2, but I have played against all the top48 MLG teams, including at Orlando in 2010. I agree ARs in Slayer Pro is stupid, and hopefully MLG comes out really soon. Maps are very bad (except Haven) for MLG.

    But which would you prefer in MLG? BR vs DMR?

    I think the DMR is the best in the game, but it seems to give so much advantage to the person who is able to get the first shot. The BR is better for close range, but it is hard to defend against the DMR from distance. The BR is my vote for MLG.
    1. tradition
    2. better 4 shots will be rewarded
    3. makes for better gameplay, including maps
    4. able to take on multiple players at once. With the DMR this is very hard with 2 players shooting you. I have been able to take on 2 BRs and manage to get the double because of grenade placement, if they both had a DMR the grenade would have landed them both no-shield, but I would have been dead easily.

    Mainly I feel like the better player is rewarded more wit the BR

    You know I just realized that today, in fact I went in a custom game and ran through it myself and I was full shield the whole time. But yesterday I did the exact thing and it knock my shield down

  • Yeah man... I am a BR guy ALL the way but it seems like all of the pros prefer the DMR.. Not sure which is better right now.

    Here's Str8 Rippin' vs Triggers Down at MLG Dallas, November 2-4th Halo 4 opening tourney. (The link says 2009 but this tourney was held a few days before the release of Halo 4 last weekend.)
