OT: Racial Profiling

  • If I (white male) walk thru a predominatly black neighborhood wearing this hoody, would I be racially profiled as being a threat? For the sake of discussion, lets say I was just walking to the store to get skittles.

why? surely I wouldnt be profiled based on the color of my skin or the clothes that I was wearing? From what I see and hear, African Americans don't approve of profiling based on skin color or clothing.

I mean, surely they aren't hypocritical.

  • You fully know that hoodie is not the same and had a completely different history and context.

    This troll is despicable.

I would like to get some responses from African Americans on this issue.

you're trying too hard to get responses and the manner in which you are doing it is not very tasteful

go back to the drawing board and try again

Threat? Child, please. You'd get asked if you were the KKK, though. If you were to respond the with the wrong answer, you'd most definitely get your issue. Also, I guarantee you, no police would be called either. biggrin

  • OT, but I don't think the guy who killed that kid is a racist. I think he's a dork with a hard on for cops and authority. He had "his" moment to be the law and use that civilian police force training he took.
Now the cops that didn't throw him in jail on the other hand................

so it's ok for a black man to use violence on a white man when you dont like my answers but it isnt ok for a white man to kill a black man when he didnt like his answers? That makes perfect sense

It's never ok to profile, but you know fully well how despicable your usage is.

    Hoodie=not racist.
    KKK hood=racist.

I'm also curious about this. Care to try it out and post the results here later?

no. I'm saying if black people really want race to not be an issue then the same rules should apply to all races. Black people like to play the race card when things aren't going their way. I'm saying that it is hypocritical for black people to profile a white man based on his skin and clothing but then cry racist when a white man does it to them.

and if black kids dont want people to think they are in a gang then dont dress like you are in a gang. If Trayvon was dressed normal then there probably wouldnt have been a problem. I would be willing to bet that Trayvon had his pants sagging too

  • Please explain to me how a white guy in a KKK outfit is anywhere near a black guy in a hoodie? Are you really trying to make that comparison?

Why profile it as a KKK outfit? What if I am just dressed up like a ghost?

Everyone in this country knows what that picture is you attached. You chose that for a reason. A ghost sheet is not the same as a KKK outfit.

Sounds good, but race is an issue and has been since this nation's beginnings. It is what it is. Also, why that hoodie?

maybe I'm not good at making costumes? The point is that black people would profile a white man based on the clothes that he was wearing and then bitch when someone profile a black teen that is dressed like a gangbanger.

Even the black politicians that have been wearing hoodies know how to dress. When was the last time you saw a black politician wearing FUBU

to prove the point that blacks profile whites as much or more than whites profile blacks. however, blacks are the only ones that you will hear cry about it
