  • Looking to go to one. Which is the best one to go to and what level should you get? Their website shows a conceirge level, butler level, and a regular level? Any help would be appreciated.

  • I've only been to one - St Lucia. I think they have three spots there now.

I'd recommend it. The resort and service was great. Although the restaurants overall are subpar.

I think we just had the regular level. This included all food and drinks.

  • Id stay away from sandles and look at other all inclusive deals that offer better food quality. If your interested in dodging the drug wars in Mexico the Royal Hideaway is top notch and similarly priced when I went. Great service and top of the line food.

  • Just got back from (Secrets Marquis) in Cabo. Adult only all inclusive, great resort with great service and the weather was perfect about everyday. its also about 20min ride to downtown cabo to walk around marina etc. The Secrets on the Riviera Maya in Cancun is also really nice but prefer cabo. I would stay away from Jamaica as went there last year and resort was supposed to be 5* but was just OK with average service and food and outside the resort the area was terrible.

  • I am getting married next April, any suggestions on a honeymoon place in the Caribbean? Plan on staying at least 5 nights. Willing to pay upwards of 5k for the hotel.

Pretty much every restaurant on the resort. We went one night to a place at Halycon as well.

The best food imo was the brick oven pizza at the little open air hut place.

The Italian joint was really good, along with the hibachi grill. French place was great.

That's what we paid for a week at Sandals in St Lucia.

I have done the St Lucia- Grande.

That will be the island that I will return to. Sulfer Volcano= no mosquitos, even in the rain forrests.

Unless, you really want to spend the $$, the concierge level is probably the best way. They do almost the same thing for you that the butler level, except for the fact that you share their services with others on that same level.

Go on the rain forrest canopy zipline though. Tons of fun. Oh, and don't do a combo land/sea excursion. Either all by sea or all by land. Your stomach will thank me later.

Devidee is correct, the food isn't fabulous, but it isn't that great compared to your top-end American restaurants anywhere in the islands. Too hard to get the product in at some places.

Oh, and if you go the 2nd week of May, there is the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, if the timing works.

Oh trust me I don't mind bar food or anything like that. There are just other resorts that go beyond sandles food. Sandles is a place where young honeymooners go and that's fine. The wife and I would have gone and had a great time but you can find deals (like the royal hideaway) that have 5 star dining options for the same price. Our resort had more woRkers than vacationers.

We got it around 4K before the recession. You probably could get a better price now.

The food at Mexican resorts are all much better than the islands, for the most part.

  • Honestly I've been to most of the islands in the caribean(Aruba, St Thomas, St Johns, Nassau, Freeport, etc)...we like going to Sanibel Island near Naples better. Cheaper, no locals trying to hock shit to you when you lay on the beach, better food.

I have found plenty of that in Jamaica, Aruba, Nassau, and Puerto Rico, but it didn't happen to me in St Lucia at all. I imagine the food would be much better there.
