Based on your logic, I can only assume you would be ok with a state such as California saying that white Republicans are not allowed to procreate through marriage, because that would be immoral in ther minds.

Pretty sure he probably said the same thing when he started passing laws against Jewish people. Basically, it won't work. You have amended the constitution in a way that it legislates bigotry. I am not an intolerant man, I am someone who believes in equal rights, believes that government has no business in social issues such as marriage (that is purely a religious function and I don't care what they do, unless they take public money), and believes that they have zero right in telling two people that they can't spend a life together as a couple, and raise a family any way they choose to.

Conservatives scream about gov't interfering with their right to bear arms, Anu kind of regulations against business as interference, heck even the fact thy gov't demands you wear seat belts, But then you turn around and take away the rights of people to live their life as they choose. It is intense hypocrisy.

America, sadly, remains well back in the world when it comes to social tolerance.

For the record, I am a center left independent, libertarian leaning on a authoritarian level, and will likely vote Republican in my state's Gubenatorial election. I'm also straight as they come - it's not just gay people who care about civil liberties.

I would rather be intolerant of bigotry than be bigoted. And yes, people who believe gay people are lesser people and don't deserve the same rights as everyone else, is weak minded.

All states violated blacks peoples rights at various points in the past, that is not being debated. Women were not given the right to vote for many years, as well. I am not sure why you are trying to equate these two issues. How is a sexual preference remotely related to ones race or sex? I cannot change my race or sex. And there are laws to prevent discrimination against either.

How bout we bring back polygamy it's popular around parts of the world. Don't want anyone to fell left out. Should there be a anything goes society? I could care less about who one chooses to have sex with or how many. That being said it one thing to be tolerate and forcing one to change Thier beliefs . As I understand it the law does not make being homosexual a crime it just doesn't recognize the marriage of same sex couples. If the law is changed to accept same sex marriage then were does one stop recognizing other forms of marriage . Would it not be considered bigotry toward other forms of marriage except same sex and opposite sex marriage of individuals if other forms of marriage were not legalized? I think the same argument would be applied to other forms of marriage and called bigotry . I don't care who one sleeps with but don't try and tell me it okay to legalize other forms of marriage outside of heterosexual singular marriage and it not become problematic .
