OT: Summer Plans: Baseball

  • Got most of my summer plans set in stone as they pertain to baseball.

my wife got all of this started with my birthday present. She got me tickets to go to Wrigley and watch the Cubs and my Red Sox in June. I've never been to wrigley but have been to fenway so she gave me the best of both worlds. AWESOME GIFT!

from there, i started realizing that my work schedule is going to work out where i could buy tickets and see a few other games/parks. because of two trips i have to take to washington during the season

I will be going to see Camden yards when the orioles play the phillies as well.

i'm going to pick out a game for the nationals, i'm just not positive when yet. I think i'm going to be able to catch the braves while they are there in August. I also have to go back to washington in October, so if somehow the Nats are in the playoffs, i will make a game as well.

i am going to take a trip to Turner, cause i havent been there in a few years.

And, i'm trying to work out splitting a trip with my cousin to go back to Fenway (havent been since i was about 15)

all this spurred from my awesome birthday present from my wife, and i am VERY pumped for the summer now!

  • also, as with most baseball fans, this helps me on my quest to see all MLB parks before i die. Especially knocking off 3 new parks in one summer.

i'm still young so i have a lot of time and few parks i have been to, but i'm working on them.

    Have been to:
    ATL: Fulton County
    ATL: Turner
    BOS: Fenway
    HOU: Minute Maid
    TEX: Ballpark in Arlington

    Adding on this year:
    CHI: Wrigley
    BAL: Camden
    WAS: Nationals Park

    Next Year's Plans:
    STL: Busch Stadium
    NY: Yankee Stadium
NY: Whatever the mets abomination is called
    TAM: the dumphole

  • I'd love to take a trip like that. I know they have packages for a week where you would go to Boston, New York, Philly and Baltimore. Same thing in the Mid West like a Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and St. Louis trip. I've never done it but would be cool. Enjoy, sounds like a great time!

We go to Put-In-Bay for a week and also hit a few Tribe games. I make it to the Cincy seris every summer as well (I live in Indy now) however MLB has moved the Tribe/Reds seris in Cincy to Mid June during the week. Might take kids to the afternoon game but impossible with work & vacation a week later to the Outer Banks to stay for the whole seris.

I live five minutes from Wrigley, if you have any questions feel free to throw them my way.

  • I have been to many baseball parks over the years and while I am in no way a Cubs fan, I have been to Wrigley twice and I think it's the best, most unique park I have ever been to. I love Fenway too in a similar way but I give the nod to Wrigley. You will have a great time.

The new Yankee stadium is unbelievable, in a completely different way. I got to attend games at some of the older parks that are gone now like Riverfront in Cincy, Astrodome in Houston, Busch in St. Louis. All great parks. I went to a game at Safeco last summer. Pretty cool place. Been to Angels stadium a couple of times. The one place I have not been that I want to see is Dodger Stadium.

  • I am only hitting up two games this summer. I am going to a day game alone Dodgers v. Phillies in July. I am a teacher and will be on summer vacation, nobody I know could get the day off, so I am going alone.

Then I am taking my family to a game in August against the Cubs. It will be my youngest daughters first Dodger game, I am looking forward to it!
