Been listening to a lot of Tool lately on Pandora. WAs never much into them when I was younger but am really liking them now. Is it just me or is Danny Carey a badass drummer? I hardly ever pay attention to the drumming in a song but Tool's drumming just sounds amazing to me.

I am from that era but I never really got into Tool...too dark for me...and I just can't get into bands that are constantly trying to make political/religious/philosophical statements. Even pearl jam became tired when they went into their political activist stage.
that being said the music is ok...they are just...annoying.

New album should be out in the Winter/ Early spring.
Carey is in my Top 5 DOAT. Just dirty.

I love air drumming to Tool, even though I seldom follow along correctly.

You might enjoy Puscifer. They came to Nashville back in February and put on a great show. Very mellow music.

Bumping this thread.
I keep hearing more and more songs by Tool that are just flat amazing. Can't believe I am so late to the party but better late than never.
The song Aenima is one of the best I've heard. The vocals, drumming, guitar, bass, everything in that song is awesome.

Besides Bonham, whenever I ask a rock drummer who his influences are or who
he thinks is the best in the business, the 2 names I almost always hear them say is
Neil Peart from Rush and Danny Carey.
The next tour will be about the 9th or 10th time I've seen Tool
live in concert, and everytime has been better than the last.
I've seen Perfect Circle as well, nice little side band, but nothing
compares to rockin out with your Tool out!

Yeah, you have definitely been missing out. Carey is badass, though I hold Adam Jones and Justin Chancellor in high regard as well. Just all excellent musicians.
Enjoy! And about the A Perfect Circle > Tool comment.....no, just no. Not even close though APC is pretty good. Tool has a sound that is unique and will stand the test of time. NO ONE else sounds like them. As soon as you hear a Tool intro, you know exactly who it is. In fact, I think our grandkids generation will still be listening to Tool. They aren't my all time fav, but are in my top 5.

Saw Tool as part of ozfest over a decade ago. Included Maynard sitting with this back to the audience for 30 minutes. Great band, but weird dude. F" L Ron Hubbard and F" all his clones.

I don't follow them as much as I did ten years ago but they are bad ass. I remember when APC first came out it was a huge deal and every one freakn out that Tool was done. Still pop in the first APC CD every now and then when I'm chilln.
Tool, APC, Rage, Korn, Slipknot, and HedPe(when they were a real band) were the good ol' days of roaming San Diego and Orange County.
