  • Holy hell, was I late? I love this show and am flying through season one right now. Great acting, great music, great storylines, great characters. David Simon delivers again.

Yeah, NoVa put me on. It hasn't disappointed. There's a bunch of actors from The Wire in it. Freamon and The Bunk are lead characters.

Are you traveling for the Sugar Bowl?

I haven't decided yet. I have certainly thought about it. If my brother is off work and wants to go we will probably make the trip.

  • I watch it on the reg. Definition of character driven show. Not my favorite Simon vehicle but enjoy it.

The Corner was great. It was cool how DAvid Simon kind of reversed rolls for actors from The Corner to The Wire. If they were law enforcement in The Corner, they were criminal on The Wire.

You also see scenes in The Corner and Homicide that made their way to the Wire.

First I'm hearing about Homocide and I haven't seen The Corner in years. Are both available on HBOGO?

    Nice sig, btw

  • Homicide was a network show (CBS maybe back in the 90's) based on David Simon's book (http://www.amazon.com/Homicide-Killing-Streets-David-Simon/dp/0805080759).

Interesting tidbit; Richard Belzers charater John Munch exists as the same guy in Homicide and in Law and Order.

    This video should look familiar:

    go censored yourself, btw

    Play

Why Homicide: Life On The Street is amazing.

Bolander and Munch trick a suspect into believing that a copy machine can tell whether the suspect is lying or not.

Belzer has actually played John Munch in at least 8 different projects.

  • Been watching since Day 1 also. The show just really speaks to me for whatever reason.

Being from Charleston I can relate to a lot of what goes on in the show. Our city has a similar look and feel as New Orleans. I also lived through Hurricane Hugo so that is familiar as well.

Before someone jumps on me about the cities being nothing alike (had this conversation with friends before)...Ive been to New Orleans and I'm not saying they are the same. Just saying that watching the show reminds me of my life when I lived in downtown Charleston.

  • Its certainly not for everybody, but people that don't like it are fools imo

    You'd have to be

Easily one of the best shows ever cause its different, the music is incredible and overall its a HBO show by a great creator that holds no punches..... usually that is as good as it gets for TV shows

Its not my favorite show ever, but its certainly an A+ for me

My only complaint is I can't see more of each little world they portray

  • I absolutely love this show. I've only been to New Orleans once, but Treme has made me completely fascinated with the city. I definitely need to make it down there sometime soon and spend a little less time getting shitfaced and more time seeing what else the city has to offer.

It's amazing, I love spending the day down there acting like a tourist. Walking around everywhere, catching a trolly or carriage ride around. So much history it amazes me
