By who? Sorry but you can't pick that beach over Hawaiian beaches. Not even close. The best beach in Florida isn't on the same level as the worst beach (Waikiki) out here.

Water quality is another subject all together. If you are talking about the combination of water clarity and abundance of sea life, then Hawaii is the best I have experienced for sure.

Waikiki is for you if you like sunscreen filled water with a million tourists and a man made wall to keep the water calm. You might as well get a swimming pool and save your money. Its basically Florida with less heat and better water if you get out to the reef.

If you really think that Kailua, Makapu'u, Sandy's, Hanauma Bay, Chinaman's Hat and anywhere on the north shore (this is only Oahu) aren't acceptable you are in a tiny minority, very old, or are scared to swim.

I have lived all over the Panhandle, the Space Coast, and had a fishing hub in Miami and they were all green/blue water. Water gets murky if there is rain. The rain provides runoff which gets into rivers and flows into bays. I have never seen brown water in Florida, but after a huge storm, the sand can be stirred up and it can me kinda murky looking. But again, outside of the bay, I have never, ever, seen brown water.

Would make sense maybe with the constant afternoon T-Storms. The water wasn't like a flood brown but a murky dull brown. Oily as hell too.

We were told it didn't make it that far, but if so than yes giant oil spills do make those beaches less appealing.

I am trying to run down an airial shot I took years ago over port st joe bay in nw florida. It looked like there was a bull every 20 square yards. I have been diving there my whole life but after that plane ride I started being a little more attentive to my surroundings. Scariest thing about bull sharks is when you see one swimming away from you and you can see the girth. Like a 50 gallon drum with fins. Eff a shark. Eff 'em.
