You missed the greatest era of wrestling. The Monday night Wars were awesome. I was more into WCW, but also liked WWF. The NWO got big, and WCW took off. WWF was at its best in the Attitude Era, and even then WCW beat WWF in ratings for 88 straight weeks because of Sting and the NWO.
I recommend finding episodes from 1996 to 2000 for both companies. WCW 2000 is when it started to die, and I believe they sold in early 2002. I may be wrong on that.

Paul Heyman (Paul E. Dangerously) put it best in a shoot interview, when he said that the wrestling business was like the tech industry. It was a bubble that had to burst & it did & Vince ending up being Bill Gates. But yeah the Monday Night Wars was the ish! I miss both WCW & ECW.

I was watching the new ECW DVD on Netflix earlier today. Watched a hardcore tag team match that involved RVD, Sabu, Rhino, and Perry Saturn. Was the good ole days. RVD can still put on very entertaining matches in TNA, but he was an athletic freak in ECW.

I never got into WCW. The NWO taking over got boring. At one point it seemed like they had 20 members and they were all the top dogs in the entire company. Only people left were Goldberg, DDP and Sting it felt like.

And that is why WCW failed. The writers failed the company, even with having the deepest roster.
Sting Flair Hogan Hall Nash Goldberg DDP Lex Luger Bret Hart Curt Henig Rey Mysterio Eddie Guerrero Chris Benoit Macho Man Scott Steiner Dean Malenko
Just a crazy good roster, but all wasted with terrible writing.
IMO, 1996-1998, WCW had the best run in pro wrestling history. Sting playing his Crow character, the rebel, coming down from the rafters and terrorizing the NWO was the best character in wrestling history. This is still one of my favorite moments in wrestling history.

They ultimately failed because guys like Hogan, Nash & Hall had huge guaranteed contracts & full creative control. They were past their primes & held down young highly talented guys like Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit & Mysterio. If WCW would have pushed those guys & gave them a shot they still may be in business today. Still wish they were though.

Wrestling has hit a bottom because of WCW not being in business still imho. WWE is just gay now. Everyone is an ass kisser to the fans, nobody has a good persona. I'm really tired of the two heavyweight title belts. Have one top dog in the company and leave it like that. It's stupid to have 2. The tag team devision is putrid. The girls all suck. Bringing back Lesner just for a match or two was lame. Either tell him to be in or tell him to fug off. Why even sell his merch if he's not even going to wrestle? Punk is alright. Everyones music sucks dick now. They're all Creed songs basically. Idk. It's just hardly worth watching imho.

Agree. I don't watch anymore and haven't in probably almost 10 years -- I'll check it out if I catch it on and I'm always disappoint. Instead, I watch old stuff and pretend it's new. Download all the old Nitros from '96-'98, the Attitude Era Raws, and the original ECW stuff, and you'll be good to go for another 5 years. I missed a lot of the ECW stuff so it's all new to me.
